Angry Put a big indentation into my Fujitsubo muffler

Well I got sloppy today and went into a parking lot with a steep entry a little to fast today. I put a dent into the bottom of my Fujitsubo muffler canister. It's about the size of a large coaster and is about 1/4" to 3/8" deep just about dead center.

I wonder if this is going to affect the performance of the muffler or if it messed up the insides much. I guess I'm glad the y-pipe and mid-pipe didn't get damaged as well.

Anybody else do this same lame as* thing to their exhaust?

Dang... I'm sure a muffler shop could take it apart and smooth it out for ya. As for parking lot troubles. The Z is a low as hell car. When I first got it I had been driving a big honking stang (they ride about a foot in the air) for awhile. I went to park and scraped the underside of the front bumper on that concrete parking spot stop thing. I was real pissed off and since have learned how to calculate the distance. Live and learn.

This is a bit of an old post, but nis350ztt's moving of things made me see it again. That dent shouldn't affect anything. I imagine it'd take a *really* big dent to significantly change the flow characteristics.

Yeah, thats what I figured. There has been no change in tone or flow out the tail pipe so it probably isn't affecting anything.

And because it happened on the forward facing area you can't see it either.

I'm looking into upgrading my suspension to Nismo but I have my doubts cause it lowers the Z almost a whole inch. I have the nismo exhaust and would hate to ding it up. Sorry to hear about your 'accident' but at least you can't see it.

The official North America Nismo site...

http://www.nissanusa.com/content/0,,...anding,00.html

...says that the Nismo suspension lowers the car 0.6". I have the RSR springs which lower the same amount, and I haven't scraped my Nismo muffler once yet. The front end is the only thing I ever scrape despite my best efforts. At least it's only the little black factory spoiler piece that scrapes... I've never hit the bumper itself at all.
