All the shops I've contacted that have experience installing 350Z headers (meaning they can do it faster than average) have quoted me roughly $400. That doesn't tell you the time, but it might give you an idea.

However, that was for my LeMans Sunset Z... so who knows how long your's might take?

i was quoted by advantage nissan (bremerton, wa) a total of 5-5.5 hours of labor. The mechanic that installs it has done quite a few before. $80 an hour of labor!

BTW, crawfords are going in!

Ya, be prepared I think they add an extra 10% fee for the SB models, depending on which radio station it is tuned in to

its not a bad job, to do it yourself and save your money to put towards other mods...it does take a lil patience

Time would actually depend to an extent on the header design. I know that when we re-designed the JDM Alphawerks to fit the USDM models we designed it to fit without having to "lift" the engine. If the installer has experience with the car then he should be able to do the Alphawerks headers in approx. 3 hours. That is how long it took Dynamic Turbo in Florida to do coupeondubs of g35driver.com header install on his G-35.

HA - I was going to say the average install takes 4-7 hrs depending on experence, but that is on PPW, DB, LS, BY and redline Z's. On SB, SS, CS, and LA Z's it takes 7-10 hours! Headers can't even be installed on the new yellow colored Z's since they are so new. They haven't found a way to get around the modifications nissan made to the car in order to get it painted yellow.

lol, great thread. Seriously though, if I could get a shop to guarantee a 3 hr install I would buy the Alphawerks tommorow.

In AZ, I have been quoted a minimum 10 hours labor to install any headers.

Unfortunately, my car is also Black, so that could be it...

Wow. Thats crazy. So your looking at adding almost half the cost of the headers onto install?

Yup. Such is the bummer of doing headers on a Z.

Yes, as Victor stated, Alpha Werx Headers were designed to just slip within install perameters without lifting engine. Some headers like Crawford Headers require that you lift the motor in order to install them. I installed Alpha Werx headers into my Z33 without the later. Headers just slide right in. Driver side Header placement requires you to disconnect the steering shaft in order to get it up to the engine. DO NOT FORGET to tighten the two bolts that hold the steering shaft together and make sure that the shafts lines up correctlly. Also, you will need lots of PATIENCE. You'll also want to get help or you wont want to finish the install by the time your half way into it which is already to far to turn back. Find someone with really skinny arms. that person will make this install much easier for you...but not him. Find and purchise long, angled, perferably ratcheting, open ended twelve and fourteen mill. wrenches. Standard open ended wrenches wont help much. This install was not easy at all and will require you to fully commit yourself to it 110%. Be ready ahead of time and make sure that you have at least six hours to this install. Keep track of all your bolts and orginize all your parts and panels. Be cautous and attentive to what your doing and what needs to be done. Be ready to do it all over again! When your motor heats up, the bolts will expand and loosen. When your motor cools down, you will need to tighten all bolts that secure all exhaust system parts in order to prevent exhaust leaks. This is very important. Also, do your oil change at this time. Lastly. good luck and don't give up.
