No leaks to begin with... I seem to play it safe when it comes to my motor. As I was looking for bolts at ACE I came across the 1/2" metal/rubber washers. I thought, hmmm, those look like they could be useful So I grabbed one and tried fitting one of the bolts thru it... very tight fit! I then realized it would create a better seal than the supplied washers, so I bought six of them. The rest is history.

I try to help when I can ravi...

so they are metal on one side and rubber on the other?

since everyone seems to be having problems leaking, or more than a few anyways, i might consider changing too if there is a better solution. you have done a great job with this...maybe aam could use some of your ideas and instructions

thanks zquicksilver

Maybe...

Motordyne seems to have a nice COMPLETE setup.

Just go to ACE and look in the "standard washer" section of the store. You will see them there in one of the buckets. Metal on the top and rubber on the bottom.

those washers are HARD TO FIND.

i give up... i just bought a thin rubber washer + regular flat washer. i'm thinking of combining them .. the rubber washer is a tad larger in diameter than the metal washer, and it is very stnug with the M6 bolt. i'm hoping that'll work

No more group buyes per Dave at AAM it drained them but they will offer 229.00 + 15 shipping for any 35z.com club member = free shipping retail is 249.00 but saves a little I am on the edge between costs... Crawford good product but a lot more than the spacer...but Who produces more HP and is it worth the extra $$ ???

A well stocked Hardware store should have them...it doesn't have to be ACE.

Funny though...when it comes to the hard to find small stuff, ACE is the Place The big guys suck!

Go hop on the Motordyne one while you still can...should be similar gains and no trips to the store:

I got my metal/rubber washers from LOW'S.
You might want to check it out. Hope it's the same as the one from ACE.

I think it will be easier with AAM because with motordyne you have to get new strut bar or get a kit to raise the hood , dont like that idea and they both produce same hp maybe a tad more with AAM but bugs(the right bolts)need to be worked out I dont want to go buy parts to put it together.

I was amazed at how much the strut bar raised when tighting it back to the orginal nut position. I also left the rubber cushions in the hood for vibration dampening. I also installed an engine dampener for the hell of it. Keeps that engine in check! The hood sits nice and flush

Here are some pics as promised...

OMG I used that exact same Rubbermaid Tupper ware container for my intake on my civic 4 years ago. What a coincidence!!! Maybe I should put it on my Z =)

I bought those metal/rubber washers at Home depot in FL (a couple of years ago) and at Home Depot in NE more recently for my spacer install. They were in drawers near the other washers/screws.

Yes, most elastomers can withstand High Temps... You would have to take a torch to it before it started to fizzle and bubble

Boma,

You like that... I bought two containers and retro-fitted a new intake cowl with the intent of increasing air velocity, thus feeding the conical filter a little more. The main container fits into the nose or end of another identical container. An effect similar to stacking them when stored. So overall, the seal is as good or better than OEM. I've had it on the car for 7 thousand miles now and I'm loving it!!

That's only true of the 1/2" spacer...the 1/4" will actually allow for more room than the AAM which is 1/2" at the front. So it's actually a tighter fit than the Motordyne piece.
