I have no idea what the engine is going to do once I install the spacer, from your feedback it's going probably cause me to sink into my seat. I'm actually getting all giddy from the amount of power expected once I get all my mods installed. See sig

yeah, I have had it on my car for a little over a week, and it definately sounds a little louder. I had it installed by Altered Atmosphere, and they did a great job...good bunch of guys. I guess the ECU finally adjusted to it. Now I can definately tell a difference in power.

not sure about the comparison in gains....but one must also take into consideration that if you go crawford you must also change out the strut bar too for clearance of the plenum

yea, as far as im concerned this is the way to go. ive never liked any of the plenums released, because they were either A ugly, or B cracked, and C had the hidden cost of having to replace your strut bar. i ask once more, do you know how big of a gap it makes in the front, is it .5 in???

Yes, it is (.5") inches at front and (.25") at the back.

digging it up

road warrior and others...the spacer is awesome! i have around 500mi on it and with no doubt in my mind there as been a change to the engine. it's not psychological! after she's warmed up, the engine revs with so much ease combined with my CAI it's crazy. more growl and more pull throughout the entire powerband!

i'll post some good pics after this weekend...i did have some problems with the strut bar install though, lots of tweaking!

Zquicksilver
ps if you used the longer bolts as specified in my illustration, you can easily use a washer and lock washer or just a lock washer with the a flange/ head bolt and never worry about bolts loosening.

Well, everything is installed and running great!! The strut bar finally worked after a few combinations with the washers. In my case, I only needed two thick washers for all the strut bolts (except for the pair of FIXED bolts with nuts). For those I used a thin washer half as thick just to be safe for a combination of two thick and one thin. I was amazed at how much the strut bar raised when tighting it back to the orginal nut position. I also left the rubber cushions in the hood for vibration dampening. I also installed an engine dampener for the hell of it. Keeps that engine in check! The hood sits nice and flush

Here are some pics as promised...

Hey Road Warrior,

It's an engine dampener...it keeps the engine from torquing so much when you punch the gas. I thought it would help with possible vibration from the strut bar, you know, with the clearance of the strut bar issue? I simply attached it to the strut bar bolt and (timming belt casing) at the front most corner of the engine. I had to buy some new hardware to get it to work, but it wasn't a big deal at all. The actual dampener itself is the same thing Stillen offers, minus the hardware kit for install. Guess that's why Stillens costs over 2 times more...? It pays to be handy Anyway, imo Stillens dampener comes from China as does the one I purchsed on EBAY. If you look really close you can see they are the exact same product (ie just the dampener).

For $50 I thought it was worth it!

ps shifting is now much more precise...

zquicksilver

thanks a LOT for the really useful pics of your bolts.

freaking awesome. i had major leak issues with my installation -- in particular, bolt 2 and 1. i think the washers with the rubber base will help a lot, without having to torque it way over spec.
