high flow cats or test pipes
I'm looking to invest in the Stillen true dual after reading all the great reviews on it...I am just stuck on whether to get stillen test pipes or crawford high flow cats.....advantage or disadvantages??? any suggestions
my suggestion would be search. dont create new posts until you have searched for the topic. this has been covered amillion times. test pipes will give you rasp, most high flows wont. not much power difference. search plz....

If you want more performance and dont mind slightly louder, raspier exhaust, get the test-pipes and save like $300. Also if you dont have emissions in your state or dont have them for a while get test-pipes, to me HF cats are not worth it.
i want a deeper more aggressive sound...and thats why i'm worried that the test pipes are going to take that away. Maybe I should just go with the stillen exhaust and leave the stock cats?? i'm driving myself nuts about this
If you read my thread you will see I went nuts too. There are too many options!
I too thought HF cats were a waste of money until I weighed my options.
1. Not worry about passing emissions with certain HF cats.
2. Not worry too much about a loss of torque.
3. Not annoy the person behind me with rasp in daily traffic.
4. Not have to switch my HF's to OEM every two years...which isn't that big of a deal.
5. Not worry about the drone at certain rpms.
6. No stench in the dead of winter when my widows are rolled up.
7. Not activate the CEL, which many say is fine if you put a "fix" on it, but I'm not 100% I'm comfortable with that for the next 10yrs.
I know there are a lot of what if's with the HF's, but those are the complaints of TP's.
IMO, if you don't have to worry about the things I mentioned, then I'm all for TP's. Save your money...

One other nice thing about having high-flow cats instead of test pipes is that high flow cats reduce emissions signficantly (*almost* as much as stock cats), while test pipes don't reduce emissions at all. So, if you actually care about the environment HF cats are a better way to go instead of test pipes.
Oh, for what it's worth, my Kinetix cats had a bit of a rasp to them. Most of the people I've read about on this forum had rasps with their HF cats of any brands. Some more than others, but they all usually do it. Maybe not as much as test pipes, but it's usually still there. It's not a big deal, though. Seriously, don't even worry about the rasp of HF cats. They really just don't make as much rasp as you might be thinking.
