Default lower plenum only for 05 track?

I was reading up on other forums on modds and found one that is a real bang for the buck. THe problem was when I went to the site it said 2005 track model. I found this to be strange. The item is $222 and gives an increase of 7-8 whp. It was proven on the dyno and supported by some owners. DOes it make sense that it would only fit 05s

um
it fits all Z's

it loses major midrange power
it only gains some hp way up top - as in beyond the stock redline - so you'd have to get an ecu flash and be driving above 6500 rpms for it to be of any use

jason@performance nissan was going to go all out and set up his engine to rev to 8000 and abondoned the idea after deciding the 2005 lower plenum gains just aren't worth all that effort. So I wouldn't buy it.

Yep, that's right. I talked it over with Doug Stewart at Crawford. He tried it, and advised against it. Major looses in the low and mid range. It's designed to work with the variable controlled valves on the G35 6 speed, the "Z" track and the 35th 6 speed only.

CRAWFORD.
i have a crawford plenum (V5), powder coated black and crawford SB for sale if your interested, 350.00.

Kinetix makes an upper plenum but, unlike Crawford's, is plastic and has had a bumpy ride to being reliable. the goods about this plenum, however, VS crawford is that crawford requires removal of the stock strut bar and or buying their strut bar in place of the OEM peice.

john

btw: they also have FULL intake manifold which replace both the upper and lower plenums. Kinetix has just released one, i will post some pics once i have installed mine.

I'm in the market for one. How much hp can you gain and can you really feel the difference? I also saw that APS makes them now but I can't seem to find any torque or hp stats on these.

do you have any other mods?

I didn't notice much from the crawford when I put it on my car when all I had was a jwt intake other than a different sound. I could pretend I felt a difference, but it just wasn't hugely apparent. It's supposed to gain about 8hp. They're only $350

if you want to stay cheap, get a spacer

The Motordyne spacer, although it improves the lean condition suffered by the front cylinders due to the slant of the stock plenum, does not correct the basic problem. IMO, that problem is the mismatch between the air being fed to the front cylinders vs. the back. The Crawford plenum does attack this, and corrects for it.

+2 for Crawford.

But with the Crawford plenum you will lose the stock plenum cover and the stock struts bar?

I have a K&N cold air intake. I know that the gains varies depending on your mods and things but I'm just not sure if spending about $400 on a plenum is worth it. I'm thinking that I'm also gonna have to get a new chip to tune for the new airflow.
