Question Test pipes question...

Hey guys, I apologize if this is a stupid question but I'm thinking about either putting just plain test pipes or resonated test pipes onto my Z. Without the cats, will this mess up the ECU first. Secondly, will this make my car sound like ****. I have a JWT popcharger and I have a Motordyne 3/8ths inch spacer on the way, which should make it sound deeper. I want to maintain that rich low 350Z rumble and not get really raspy and "honda-ey". I don't want it to sound crappy but would like to cut some restriction and make it louder. I'm just going to bolt up the test pipes and leave the stock exhaust in place. What do you think? Thanks!
Fletch

1. It won't mess up the ECU because the sensors before the cats control the A/F.
2. Get resonated test pipes and I think you will be happy with the sound. I had the Kinetix ones and was very happy with them. The Labree pipes are also good quality. The Megan racing ones seem to get mixed reviews.

first and foremost newbie, search function, titles-only option.
whether or not it will cause a cel depends upon the year of your car, but
since you don't list it, we don't know. newer years are more sensitive to pipes.
finally, the only setup that COMPLETELY REMOVES ALL RASP is stock cats, in my experience.
that is all.

Ok, it's an 03. I don't mind some rasp, but I don't want it to sound too dirty. Secondly, I searched for test pipes, resonated test pipes, and exhaust noise. This is the closest that I found. https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ted+test+pipes
And I still wanted to get everyone's opinions on this matter. As far as it causing a cel, I figured it wouldn't because I'm aware that the O2 sensor is before the cats, but I just figured I'd throw that in to make sure that I wasn't assuming something that I wasn't 100% sure of. All I wanted was your opinion, not a lecture. I'm aware of how forums work. I wanted people's opinions so I asked a question that hasn't been asked exactly the same way before. Thanks for your opinion on my actual question though.

03 should not throw a cel.
if you don't mind a little rasp, go with hf cats. if you don't mind mod rasp, louder sound and gas smell, go with res test pipes.

If you get a cel use this method.

HELP! Spark plug non fouler. Part 42002 for 3.99 from autozone.
They are a 2 pack. Get two packs and drill 2 of the nonfoulers out with a 1/2" drill bit. screw the NON driilled nonfouler into the test pipe. Then screw the DRILLED nonfouler into the non drilled fouler - install your o2 sensor into that. You will be SES light free and it will cost you less than $10 and about 1/2 hour of time.
