I'm running the stock exhaust w/non-resonated test pipes and a JIC (Bullet) Y-Pipe. It only rasps if I give it less than WOT. At WOT, there's no rasp at all; it just sounds like a pissed off Maserati.
Oh, buy the way, if your'e running a turbo with test pipes (on a Z33) there shouldn't be any rasp at all. Turbos are generally great for cancelling out anything that could be described as rasp.
For example when I had my SW20 (MR2 turbo), I was running a BIG turbo with a full 3" turbo-back (no cats) exhaust kit and it just sounded extremely deep and loud. The idle was like an ultra-low toned throbbing (or pulsing) noise (Venolia pistons and HKS cams w/Tom's valvesprings) . It was a SWEET sound!! I used to routinely set off packs of car alarms just by twisting the key and starting the ignition. It got to the point where co-workers altered there parking spots based on where I decided to park because they were sick of coming out to shut off their alarms.
My goal is to someday get my Z33 to the point where it'll be as fast as my MR2 and GT-Four were. It's got a long way to go!!
