Default Best Intake???

I just got rid of my VR-4 and picked up my Z about two weeks ago and couldn't be happier. With so many intakes (short ram and CAI). Which is better? Ram or CAI? And which brand? I have looked at several AEM, Injen, Nismo, Pop Charger, but DYno's are all over the place. Any advice would be helpful!

Main thing is performance without losing reliability!

they all suck(no pun intended )

I'd go with JWT pop charger if you really want one, otherwise a drop-in K&N will do fine and yield the same results (0hp ) I prefer short ram to CAI.

Seriously, on the Z intake doesn't add much. There are some very nice intakes, like the gruppeM (900$) and a few others, but not worth it.

I have an AEM CAI and I couldn't be happier. Getting an intake on a Z is mostly for sound. The AEM screams when you floor it and it sounds great.

I got the AEM because someone here was selling it cheap. Otherwise I would have gone with the popcharger like 90% of the people here (because it's the cheapest and is still quality).

Stock is the best intake (it is a CAI already!). Spend money on something that will actually add performance.

NickRaine78,

There will always be controversy about the intakes... only you can decide if it made a differnce or not. I was skeptical myself, so I kinda designed and built my own. It's basically a JWT filter sealed from engine heat, just like the OEM box. I felt a difference, as did other who drove my Z... So, IMO, take the chance with $110 and go get a JWT popcharger...the worst thing that can happen is your Z sounds really mean when you get on it

I'm not looking for big gains....I just want something that breathes easier and makes a little noise

JWT will best meet your needs IMO. I got the NISMO CAI for cheap, but wish I had just got a JWT instead, especially as a daily driver. It's a pain to clean the air filter on the CAI as you have to pull the wheel and the wheel skirt.

Yep popcharger. No real performance increase, but nice agressive sound.

What? I don't know how you installed yours but all I need to do is remove the small splash guard from under the car and then I can reach up to remove the filter. It's not the most fun thing to do but it's not as diabolical as some people claim.

I'm not saying that the injen CAI is the best, I do think its one of the better ones out there though. I was gonna go w/ the jwt(109) and utr chrome intake tube(125). But for 180 shipped the injen seemed to be a better deal and supposedly got me a couple more hp.
