Default Injen CAI Installation

Dear members,

I just got done installing the INJEN CAI in my 350Z, i noticed that the filter portion of the intake sits right behind the grill.

Has anyone had any problems when driving in the rain. I am a little nervous about driving in heavy rain. Any suggestions.

Thanks,

John

Just installed my Injen CAI last week. Hven't driven it in the rain yet, but from
what I've read in the forums you should be okay unless you drive through a big
a$$ puddle or submerge the filter. I also decided to bolt my filter in place rather
than use the plastic push pin they suggested. Took longer to do this, but the
filter is far more stable at the mount. You could grab it with two hands and it
wouldn't budge.

Roque,

Thanks buddy,

Was a little bit nervous driving it because i literally just got done installing it today and it is a monsoon out right now. I also bolted it to the metal frame right underneath the bumper.

Default injen cai intake

Just purchased 1985 injen cai and have a question about installation. Did you have any problem removing the bolts from the old heat shield? I heard that you may have to modify the heat shield so it doesn't hit the AC lines. Can you jack up the car and unbolt the splash shield under the car, then attach the secondary intake to the front bumper?

Don't even worry about the rain - never think about it again. You will never have an issue

I have an AEM CAI and I have ZERO fear of anything happening. You really need to drive through several feet of water before the filter might get wet. I've been through many storms here in rainy Portland and have had no problems at all. I don't even have the center splash guard on my car.

Don't worry about it!

Although I must add that my filter sits in front of the left-front wheel well so it's not exposed at all.

Guys! I just got Injen CAI and I don’t have installation diagram that comes with it.
I know there’s nothing easiest then put it on but I would just feel much better if one of you could post pictures of it installed… or post a scan of that installation diagram.
Thanks,
Andre

Here's what I used to install my AEM. Should be a similar process for you:

Just don't drive through a deep puddle that would submerge the filter. Otherwise you'll be OK.

Instead of putting mine behind the grille, I opted for the short version with my Injen CAI. Mileage and performance have increased with no problem.
