Default Cant get o2 sensor out - running one

Guys,

I cannot for the life of me get one of the o2 sensors out of the cat. I am going to work on it some more tonight with some better products to help maybe loosen the bolt. I have all but stripped out the bolt trying to get this thing out, it seems to have rusted or welded itself in due to heat or something. I have never had this much trouble with a stubborn bolt.

Nevertheless, even getting a new o2 sensor is not an option as my Nissan dealer had to order it (be here tues or weds). What risks do I run by running only one o2 sensor? I covered the bung for the other one with a bolt. And i wrapped the disconnected o2 sensor plug in with plasic so that it wont get dirty/wet.

I have the SES light but everything else seems to run just fine. Could I mess something up running with only one o2 sensor for about a weekend?

I had the same exact problem when I was installing my test pipes. The whole install shouldve taken no longer than 2 hours but it took my friend and I 9 hours. The passenger side sensor came off with no problem but the drivers side felt like it was welded on. We stripped most of the sides and got it down a from a 22mm to 21mm. After we gave up I got so pissed and decided to take one more stab at it. We doused the area with WD-40 and hammered in the 21mm wrench. With enough force, it came loose. To answer your question, I think youd be fine running with 1 o2 sensor. You may run a little rich and notice a drop in gas mileage though

If you have access to a dremel, I cut out a small area out of the exhaust shield just enough so I could get an adjustable wrench in there. From there, i just yanked that sucker till it broke loose.

I got it out, I took a torch to it and got it really really hot and it came out a lot easier.

There is a special socket for o2 sensors. Autozone might let you rent it for free next time.
