I'd say 2-3 hours. I did it myself and this is the first car (G35) i've worked on. Just don't forget the screws that go inside. Left my engine cover off.

so if it was a 2~3 hr DIY, i'd imagine a 1hr deal at a dealership / performance shop? the ***** about Z's is the strut bar... my z is about 2.8 yrs old and the bolts are ughk... has anybody mofied their engine cover to fit?

The general consensus is Crawford >>>> Kinetix right?

The plenum install only should take an hour or so. Cutting the cover is a little more time consuming.
The instructions are here:

and don't forget to transfer the little black rubber valve cover!
crawford plenum comes with all hardware, iirc.
i've run both. performance was same. i liked that the kinetix accomodated stock strut bar, required no engine cover modification, and sounded meaner, imo.
matt (still thinks crawford hfc are the best)

the engine cover "modification" was not found in that PDF file... i was under the impression everybody foudn the Kinetix one a lot worse than the Crawford.

Btw.... if you disconnect the throttle body off the plenum... don't you need to carry out the the Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning, Thorrlte Valve Closed Position Learning as well as the Idle Air Volume Learning??

Please advise..

no, because you don't disconnect the harness from the throttle body so there's nothing to reset/relearn.

I did mine yesterday and it was the most I've ever done myself on an engine (I'm good with electronics but a newby on the mechanical stuff).
It took me 2 1/2 hours and 1 hour out of that was spend trying to get the damn hose off underneath the plenum by the throttle body, I could not reach the damn thing...wear gloves...I have a few nasty cuts because of it.
Other than that the instructions are easy to follow.
Here are some before, during and after shots:

ya, the first time's always the toughest. motordyne/hydrazine/tony has a slightly different technique/order that makes removal easier, imo. using his technique, we were able to remove the plenum in minutes.

Hammer and Chissel? Just kidding.

Forgot to mention, prior to the plenum I was running 8.9's at the 1/8 mile after the plenum install I got a 8.825...

it's Harness not Hardness

there's one Harness connection to the TB that does not get removed during the install, you can just easily move the TB out of the way, just make sure you don't drop the gasket.
The Instructions are really very easy and have some good pictures, you'll do just fine doing it yourself
