LOL.. this will never stop.. buy whatever one you want. You won't notice the difference as far as power is concerned.. just keep the air intake temp as low as possible.

Id personally go with the Motec or the Naws Vawger System with the cool air intake extension, just make sure your timing is right so you dont unload in 3rd.

BE CAREFULL!!!! If you drive with these two systems and your racing hardcore, you will definitely blow the welds on your intake, and that will suck, trust me, ive done it like 2 times!!!

I blew the welds off of my intake manifold as well at Race Wars. My sponser just hooked me up with some naws. Two tanks of the big ones. Now me and the mad scientist have to get over night parts from Japan to make it a 10 second car.

By pure design...K&N typhoon is the one.

Provides airbox to seal out(sorrta) heat.
Gives a front mounted air scoop to draw in cooler air.

JWT is nice but it still draws under hood heat. That heat shield only protects the air filter from direct heat. Doesn't give any protection from underhood heat soak.

The other brands postion the filter where there is a chance for "Hydrolock" or drawing in water where it can lower the filter's air flow. Even with the by-pass valve.

Rumor is that K&N has discontinued production on the Typhoon and brought out another one that is a short ram. Only drawback is that it can now draw in hot air, in a way. I believe it is a FPK.

Also regarding the new Injen. Isn't the only update that they now made a slot where you can insert you air flow sensor. The K&N already has the slot there.

Funny how I was at a car show and a bunch of ricey kids asked me why my filter was in an enclosure. I said that it is a cold air intake not a hot air intake. You would have thought I explained the meaning of life to them. They were amazed at the concept.

This is your opinion.

And for what it's worth, the JWT heat soaks less than the OEM box. And cools off quicker from heat soak. My intake temps are consistantly 8*F higher than ambient temps.

An intake is an intake!!! The % of error and differences between dyno to dyno (including operator / mech. ) is WAAAAY greater than any power ANY intake will make.

peace.

I've had my AEM CAI for about 6 months now and I love it. At WOT in the upper RPM's it absolutely screams. I even had my non-sports-car-liking Dad comment "nice sound" when I gunned it for him when he visited recently.

I couldn't be happier with it...but worth $200? I dunno. I got mine for about 1/3 of that from someone here on the forums. At that price I'm more than happy with it.

Even with the by-pass valve???? That valve is SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED to prevent water ingestion in the very unlikely even you submerge your Z in water deep enough to soak your filter.

From AEM's info - "The valve installs along the upper portion of the inlet pipe on the same axis as the throttle body centerline. Should a drop in pressure occur within the pipe due to filter submersion, the valve shuts down induction at the filter and routes incoming air through its external orifices, eliminating any chance of water ingestion. "

So could you please share with us why you feel that these valves are ineffective?

Most intakes by themselves provide similar gains, which are in the 5-7hp range according to the dyno tests done by Turbo Magazine and Nissan Performance Magazine. I think they key here is the intake by itself does little. As a part of an airflow system (plenum, headers, cats, exhaust) I think the differences are magnified. I'd rather stick with something that has been tested by Nissan to work well together, such as the NISMO CAI/headers/exhaust combo. Not to mention is sounds sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

IMO hydrolock is one of those crazy urban legends....it happened to someone at some point so it's going to happen to everyone.

I don't have the bypass valve and I've driven through standing water, rainstorms, and the like. I also don't have the center splash guard on the bottom of the car. No issues.

Unless you drive through 2'-3' of standing water, it isn't an issue. And in water that deep, the engine itself is going to be submerged in some water so it won't matter if the air filter is.
