Default Need Help got Z....NO CATS

Hello I am a proud new owner of a 04 350Z coupe. I love this car but the previous owner cut off the Catalytic converts, Now Nissan will not honor my warranty and they cannot shut off the check engine light. So my question is what should I get, I do not know much about this car but I know it needs to run right. I checked with Nissan and they want $1000 per cat. I work at a dealership and our exhaust guy told me $85 a cat...You can see my delima. So those of you who have dealt with aftermarket cats any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to spend under $1000 but I am open to suggestion becuase I want it done right.

I'll sell you my stock cats for $999 :P.
Your dealership = maggots. Suggest going to a different one, or something. They cannot void your warranty because of that. I have cat delete pipes and my warranty is still intact.

+3 on the aftermarket cats. You might as well & you can get a great pair for a fraction of what that stealership is quoting you. Worst case, I'm sure there are plenty of members out there that are willing to sell you their OEMs for real cheap since they've upgraded or went F/I.

You simply need to install non-fouler spacers on your oxygen sensors. The spacers should cost about $10.

Whatever you decide be sure the dealer that does the work agrees with the solution before you buy. The guys at Performance Nissan are probable your best bet.

After market HF cats can be had in the $300 to $400 range.

Removed OEM cats can also be found for sale if you get lucky.

I have Kinetix HF cats and no engine light.

first off, how/why did you buy a car where the previous owner took a saw to it? you can't tell us you didn't notice it. and if he did cut off the cats instead of unbolting them, then you'll need to know where he made the cuts (some pics would be nice). if your going with aftermarket cats I'd recommend crawford high flow cats. if you want all out performance and don't care about rasp, then get some test pipes.

Yeah, he's right. A set of test pipes can be purchased for less than $200. Then, as someone else already mentioned, you can use spark plug non-foulers to get rid of the CEL. I think HELP! brand part number 42002 are the non-foulers that work. Buy 2 packs of those and drill a pair of them out with a 1/2" bit. I think that's how it's done.

Why resurrect this thread after 9 months? The OP has solved the problem by now, and has no interest in relies.
