Default Is the Kinetix SSV worth the money?

I am debating on getting the Kinetix SSV or the Crawford Plenum. I am wondering if the SSV is worth the extra money, I am not planning on going FI. This, Crank Pully, and ECU reflash are my last planned speed MODS. Also If i went with the SSV I would invest in the Thermoshield Gaskets. Thanks in advance for any input and help!

I think it's mostly for bling factor. Plus, I think I remember reading on the forum that people reported torque losses in lower RPM and gains only in higher RPMs.

I dunno, the people that have used it with NA so far have mostly said they think or feel like they've gained power over their crawford plenum.

I can't see it being more than 3-4whp more than crawford and 3-4whp is hard to feel so just how much can we believe them, I dunno

either way it looks cool, makes power for NA and saves weight

Some of us don't care about low torque loss. I never drive below 2000rpm's with my tilton clutch and am usually 2500rpm or higher 90% of the time anyway

The SSV does look real cool! But im not planning to make a showcar, and 400 dollars for looks where very few people will see doesnt make much sense to me! 3-4 hp isnt very impressive I was expecting alot more since it is SS (cooler air right?) and replaces upper and lowwer manifolds. Does any one have dyno charts with the cawford before and the SSV after??? Thanks again!

no but people have dynos with the kinetix vs crawford

you'll have to look em up, don't know where they are off hand, but they're there. There's some threads on other forums as well with dynos

Almost all NA dyno charts had around a 4hp gain around 4000rpm, then another 4-5hp up top like 6300 and upward.

The rest of the dyno was pretty much even with the kinetix V4 with plus or minus 1hp here and there

I think there was a slight loss in power below 2000rpms (who cares)

and it always made the A/F much richer - like by .4 or so - NA or FI actually

this is all off my memory, might be slightly off

Looks is very subjective and if you haven't seen this in person I would be careful about the appearance factor and assuming it looks good. I personally think it looks like ****. With a very uneven look and all the runners off to one side. The other plenums can be polished as well. The SS build does not mean lower temps when compared to aluminum, this has been hashed out over and over. Also, be prepared to do some finishing work as many have had fitment and/or leakage issues required some work before the install is good. Gains are still under some question as tuning problems are there as well as timing of comparative dyno runs.

Well I have decided to go with the crawford Plenum. You cannot fit your stock strut bar over this Plenum right? Does any one know of a good aftermarket one that will fit and isint outrageously priced? Thanks for all the help guys! Or is there even really a difference when you take it off, is it just for show?

you can fit the stock strut bar over the SSV

What I'm not sure is if you can use a thermogasket with the stock strut bar since it raises it a little

I was going to use my crawford strut or look into using the cusco strut bar since it's not as thick vertically

Crawford makes a strutbar to go with their plenum.

I think if you get an engine damper, it'll keep help the engine from hitting the strut bar

I had mine on with a Stillen eng. dampener and I had a slight rub when the engine got hot, but one set of washers under the strut bar mounting plates solved that problem. I loved my SSV, it made huge power at high RPM's but was barely noticeable at low RPM's. If you think about it, that is sort of a good thing, from 3500 up it comes alive, but it is still civil for street driving. I loved mine, the only flaw is that it takes a while to even out the A/F ratio. Looks great too. I think that it was worth it for me

Did you go from stock to the SSV? Or did you have the crawford first then upgraded?

I went from stock to the SSV, but I have a friend that had the Crawford and he nooticed a difference. Pound for Pound, it really comes down to preference...the SSV is beautiful and can make big gains with proper tuning, the crawford is "tryed and true" but requires a different strut bar. I'm selling my SSV simply because I would rather use that money for race tires. I believe that Johanna1 is buying mine, but if not it will be up for sale again. Anyone interested if it falls through?

I dont plan to go to much further with my tuning. I have CAI, cat back, and test pipes so far. I plan to get the plenum (or the SSV) with a crank pully and a reflash to finish it off. The SSV wouldnt give but a few more HP over the crawford in this set up correct? I dont see spending 450+ more dollars for a minimal amount of hp as a sound investment, but correct me if i am wrong, which happens quite a bit!

you have to either get the crawford or stillen strut bar if you go with the crawford plenum....i personally like the look of the crawford strut bar vs the stillen strut bar.
