Sweet remember the god given 100 mile addon on these intakes unless you reset ECM

Waiting for the 350Z intake to be sent to me.

Tomorrow we are going to plan the day to do the dyno's on all three vehicles.
We are going to turn it into a day where everyone is invited for the dyno runs and the installs...

I am not going to write anything else until we anounce the Dyno Day etc...

But then I will post a full write up on our tour of AFE and the results of the Dyno's...

We are shooting for all the testing to be done Next week or the week After. Depending on when we get the 350Z intake in our hands...

Talk to you all then! We are excited!

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that its impossible for this to be true. Wait, I am a rocket scientist, so I confirm its BS!

Intake was just delivered to us today.

At the same time as our lunch (Pizza today)...

We are playing with it now, It looks very nice... Top Quality connectors... Definatly alot of thought / work put into the intake system / construction... Not just a piece of pipe with a filter on it...

as far as HP increase... we wont know till we do they dyno testing...

but from the looks of it, I am sure it will make power...

How much... we will find out soon

I would like to know how you can be sure a piece is going to make power by just looking at it. No offense, I'd really like to know...

Straight intake tube design. Direct flow from the filter to the Throttle Body... OEM Z-Tube has the one bend at the throttle body and then the flex joint where the MAF housing meets up with it... Not to mention the change in inner diameter between the MAF housing and the intake tube on the 350Z and other intake systems...

This intake has the straight intake tube design with a urethane molded bend into the throttle body... the bend does not change the inner diameter of the tubing into the Throttle body...

Here is the cool part...

Yes, we can all see that the MAF is now built into the tube, cool, we have seen that before on other intakes for the Z... but there is one thing we have not... The opening of the velocity stack inot the throttle body is seamless... I will take pictures tomorrow so it can be better understood... There is no change in diameter and nothing to add any form of turbulance in the air once it is sucked through the filter until it gets to the throttle body...

This intake has no simple connector hose but a fully custom seamless part...

The intake tubing is actually a smaller diameter then the stock tubing...

For NA applications in theory, this will give the air a more direct compressed flow into the throttle body... With less room for the air to move around in the tube while it is drawn into the throttle body to the rest of the intake, it will have a more direct flow in theory...

So from the looks of it, I think it will make power... How much... Dont know for sure... Could be 2RWHP could be 10RWHP... We will see...

This intake does not look like it will work to well without the heat shield filter housing though...

After we actually install it, run it, dyno it... thats when I will write my full review...

Excellent pre-review. In theory then, this 'should' make as much or more power as any other aftermarket intake? Thanks Jason.

Any other good quality well constructed intake...

When I get back to the office tomorrow I will check the K&N Typhoon intake diameter... It has a similar intake piping that I liked because it had the straight intake tube design... (pictured below)...

what is the material made of that the filter connects to?

like the JWT filter connects to the aluminum housing right before the MAF

is it plastic?

The intake tube is aluminum

The K&N is avalible in 4 different colors, red, blue, silver and polished. Personally i dont like the look of the polished tubing, i have ordered one in silver finish (similar color to the AFE tubing i guess). The intake also comes with a true carbon fibre cover for the filter box (which is removed on the pic above from Jason).

K&N Typhoon with carbon cover:

I cant think of one single thing which would make the AFE filter a better design for added power then the K&N, if one is better then the other i would clearly say the K&N. The K&N is also HALF the price of the AFE...

AFE:
1. Large diameter streight tubing
2. Same size tubing for MAF sensor
3. Large open high flow cotton filter
4. Stock MAF position
5. Partial heat shield

Claimed gain: 21RWHP

K&N:
1. Large diameter streight tubing
2. Same size tubing for MAF sensor
3. Large open high flow cotton filter
4. MAF position a bit further away from the filter then stock or AFE
5. Fully hot air shielded box
6. Cold air ram scoop and tubing between front grille and filter box with water separator

Claimed gain: 10RWHP

Jason, 3 questions for you:
1. When can we expect to get the dyno results?
2. Have you dynoed the K&N intake?
3. Would it be possible to do a comparison dyno test between AFE and the K&N?

/Roger
