If that's the case, I might as well just go without a strut and run the 1/2". I'm concerned with the difference in gains between the 5/16" and the 1/2" plenum spacers to see if this is something I will bother trying...

Also, I'm wondering if the JIC strut bar might work with the hood and the 5/16" spacer. The JIC struts seem to be a bit flatter than the stock bar, perhaps it would fit...
Taurran,

I did a search but couldn't find any information on 5/16" strutbar spacers with the hoods. Where did you find it?

There really isn't too much of a difference. If the spacer was only 1/8' thick even that would be a big improvement over stock. (Seriously)

Most of the gains come within the first 1/4". And there are rapidly diminishing returns beyond 1/4".

The 1/2" does provide higher peak numbers, but only by about 1 to 1.5 HP. With either spacer, you will be much better off than stock.

I have Iso Thermal internal plenum supports of all sizes in anticipation of just that!
1/4", 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2".

Well I would be happy to do before and after dynos. I will talk to Turbonetics as my car should be back up there soon and see if they are willing to do before and afters for me. FYI they have a Dynapack dyno there.

That's awesome! I didn't know there was a Dynapack anywhere local to my area. TN should be advertising that all over the place. They offer dyno services right? I've been driving hours just to make it to the nearest Dynapack. Now I'm really gonna have to see their facility.

You could do an order direct off the web site, or you could wait for the GB to start in about a week.

I'm making preparations for the GB now. There is always a ton of work involved with doing a GB. I had to limit the last GB to 100 units because the work load is so huge.

I don't expect this one to go to 100 but I still want to be prepared.

Well typically they do not offer dyno services for the public. It is strictly for in house use and testing. But I'm going to try to sweet talk Brad and Jhame into letting me use it for this test. Since my car will be there anyways that is. Or if you are interested Brad has a G35 and maybe interested in getting one of these himself. Shoot me a PM and we'll talk...

Wow I'm so glad I live in CA and don't have to worry about it. It was a fun read and I learned some stuff though...

Will The Motordyne XL STB and Hood spacer kit is $40 work with the new spacer and stock strut bar?

OK any of you out there that have the 1/2 spacer with the hood modification, please tell me how you like it. Does the hood still function the same? Pros and Cons besides everyone telling me my hood is open???

A guy named Bubble on this forum had a 5/16" spacer and a Seibon VT hood. He ended up selling his spacer, I think, becuase with the strut bar spacers on, it wouldn't fit under the hood. I'm going with the Veilside hood, which is pretty much the same as his Seibon hood, and am afraid I'll have the same problem. If that's the case and I won't be able to retain the strut bar with the 5/16", I might as well go with the 1/2" right?

Does anyone know if you can use a GT Spec strut bar and keep the Engine cover with the 5/16" spacer?

Probably, but I won't know untill its tried.

I know 1/2" fit under Zboys vented carbon hood.
