Default Titanium Exhuast

When manufacturers say they have a titanium exhuast it seems like the only titanium on the entire exhuast system are the tips, everything else is stainless steel.

What i want to know is, How many people are running these titanium exhuast, what are there benefits over a regular stainless steel exhuast? How do they sound compared to the regular stainless steel exhuast?

Are you curious about a FULL titanium system? Or just Ti tipped setups?

Full titanium:

Benefits: Weight, Look, Strong,

Cons: Price, Weld for fixing,

As for the exhaust note i have been told titanium sounds different but i'm not sure. Don't worry, titanium won't match the Ferrari exhaust note anyways. I have heard the Amuse system. I was not all that surprised with the sound like people mentioned..Maybe it was just the video clip? Gotta be in person to hear one of these? Who knows.

Some companies state Ti with only the tips being ti, which is pointless. I have a full ti exhaust system because my main goal is to lighten up the car as much as possible.

Just out of curiousity i wonder who would be able to weld this if need be? Do they sell a titantium welding wire? Im sure most of these exhuast are such good quality that they would not need to be repaired but its something kind of nice to know.

I also have a full Ti (Fujitsubo). Sounds totally different at WOT from the stainless version (which I also had for awhile), but the same at cruise and at idle.

Rick mentioned the benefits. There are places that can weld ti....it is specialized though. That being said, I've not had any issues with mine in the past 1.5 years...if you go with a top notch brand, you will not have any issues. If you go with ebay level stuff, expect ebay level longevity.

Brian - it sounds, well, different

it is hard to explain really. I have the UR Y pipe, UR cats and the Ti exhaust. At idle, its silent...no louder than stock. At cruise, zero, and I mean zero drone. No matter what RPM. WOT just sounds awesome to me...not too loud, but deeper and more of an exotic note than stock (which is all resonance to me...not a fan of how they sound). It is not to the pure sex level of the Amuse, but it's damn close

^ I saw the video of the Amuse and was not impressed. The sound is nice, but nothing uber exotic like people describe.

Maybe it's the hype of the brand?

Which video did you watch? it's really hard to capture the nuances of an exhaust on video.. much different in person..

have you seen these:

I think this is the best representation of what the amuse sounds like to my ears..

exactly...all these requests for clips, what sounds good, what does not, are utterly pointless. None of the soundclips are consistent and so far none, and I mean NONE, have been the same than the real life counterparts. Not to mention that sound is in the ear of the beholder.

I've had people describe "loving" the sound of the Borla and Injen. God help me if I had to live with either on a daily basis......both sound like garbage to me (Borla being too hollow sounding, Injen being far too loud).

The only way to shop for an exhaust is go to a local meet, see what people put on their cars and listen...then pick what you can afford.
