Purchasing a used exhaust?
My350Zer's,
I found an install shop that has a used INJEN SES Exhaust for sale. What are the downsides to purchasing a used exhaust and is it even a good idea. I did a search but I didn't really get anything on it except some of them blow the fiberglass packing all over the back of the Z. The price they gave me was $250 dollars installed, they are a pretty reputable install shop here. Also anyone with an INJEN exhaust here can give me their opinion on it? Thanks!

For that amount of money.. go for it. There is nothing worng with the exhaust( lol if there isin't a hold in the piping or anything). Just apperence wise might be a little different. Take it sounds like a steal!
I'd have to say go for it. If I came around one for 250 installed, I'd probably swap out my Nismo just to try something different.
As far as buying a used exhaust, people do it all the time here. It shouldn't be a problem. Just make sure all the welds are still intact.
I've heard the Injen and sounds a little louder than stock. If you want something more aggresive sounding than stock, go for it.

i bought a used injen and have had no problem. the fiberglass problem seemed to only happen to the g35c exhausts for some reason, i believe. about the sound, i have resonated test pipes and the injen exhaust, and it can get pretty loud, but when just cruising it's really not that bad. there is more cabin noise because the exhaust is deep and bassy but after a day i was used to it. I can't really tell that well how it sounds from inside the car while driving, but my friends all say it sounds very nice. It does change the typical "vq35" sound that the Z/G/FX are well known for.

i love my injen. mine blew fiberglass when i installed test pipes about 8k miles ago...since, well the exhaust has gotten extremely loud, blows flames 500rpm before redline, and doesn't blow fiberglass anymore
the exhaust didn't blow fiberglass when i had the stock cats...imo, remembering the loudness before and after the test pipes...the injen with stock cats is relatively quiet and not extremely loud like people say.
to give you a reference of how loud it is without cats, today i did a decibal test for an autoX event and 50ft away perpendicular with the decibal reader, my car under full load wot was around 90-92db

I am glad I sold mine, for 250 I would buy it to trade with somebody else (perhaps for a borla). The Injen is loudest between 1500 and 2800 where the torque drops off. It's got 50mm piping, that is smaller than the cats they mate up to, and restrictors built in to the back boxes (don't know how the equals performance). Most don't line up straight at the bumper with the drivers side sticking out 1/4 to 1/2 more than the passenger side (even the pic above shows that).
If you mess with them long enough and get them straight, it is a nice looking setup. It certainly sounds great when they drive away from my house.
