JWT POP Charger
Anyone tried this yet?
It removes the restrictive stock air box and keeps the shorter stock air induction tube?
Saves 150 bucks too!
Anyone tried one on the Z?
Any HP improvements? The one for the 350Z comes with a heat shield and is only 100 bucks.
Comments,

I need to learn to use the search feature more often, it has answered several of my questions in the past.
Thanks for the reminder, reading link now.
Edit update;
I have decided upon an intake. Now I will have to wait.
AEM V2 (Version 2)
Already available for most cars except mine of course

restrictive stock air box is your first problem. Your assuming our box is restrictive when some research shows that the CAI hurts our car because you lose the ability to pressurize air. Also this NA 287HP 6 is already breathing real deep and and breathing out pretty hard. In fact exhast has sometimes shown to even hurt the car and the best figures show a 5HP increase. If I were you I would save the money for more effective mods.

hfm,
I remain skeptical also, however, they do baseline runs and there seems to be an improvement. I have the pop-charger and it definitely makes the engine sound a lot meaner! As to whether the car seems faster, the jury is still out! For 130 bucks though, I think it is worth it.

But, yeah, don't get me wrong. From what I read, the K&N drop in and the JWT Popcharger are good for actual hp gains.

I remain very sceptical of Mossy dyno numbers.
We baselined the car on a Monday morning, made 6 runs and then installed the popcharger. Gains were 6.5 HP. This was done in conjunction with NissanPerformanceMag.com . Tuesday we installed the AEM (Nismo wasn't out then) and Wednesday am dyno'd it again. It was back to baseline. Hard to believe. We deinstalled the AEM and reinstalled the Popcharger and gained 6.5 whp again. Done. Also dyno'd at an earlier date for NissanPerformanceMag.com was the Injen, and it was only found to gain 1-2 whp.
All I can add is that both current 350Z race cars(Schuitemaker and Performance/Unitech) in Grand-Am Cup use the Injen intakes. They use whatever gives the best gains. They have no stake in intakes other than what is the best. This speaks volumes to me.
How can that thing possibly do much better than the stock box? The stock box is enclosed and pulls ambient air from in front of the bumper. This conical filter will grab warm air from inside the engine bay with a little bit of ambient air from the stock inlet opening. I can't possibly believe it would flow cooler air than stock. The stock box is pretty unrestrictive and seems to work very well. I can see a CAI reaching around the radiator possibly providing a performance increase, but not just throwing on a conical open filter inside the engine bay.
Some people on this board have tired the K&N drop-in and found it to produce a performance loss. I thought that was very interesting...

I understand the skepticism on the car show dyno #s. I had never used that dyno before. I have always used a dyno pack, with getting each run as static as the next, 6 times in a row.

I combined my jwt pop ch. with the injen intake so that the jwt would be down in the front grill to get the cold air that breeds more power.
have not done any dyno's yet but I like the combo VERY MUCH!
see it down in the grill?

I forget which track they were initially testing on, I think Mid-Ohio. He said that they were a few seconds faster with the intake and that it equated to a few miles per hour faster on the straights. There is a difference between dyno and track. I would tend to trust track results when a very well funded race team is doing the testing and their goal is a faster car.
I actually did the exact opposite of what all_bark did. After riding around for a week with my Injen as a CAI I moved the filter into the engine bay and made it a short ram. The risk of a small pebble hitting the filter @ 100+mph speeds and creating a small hole was too great for me. Of course I would never know it until it was time to clean/re oil it and by then my engine would’ve breathed all kinda junk in. I rode around for about a week with filter in the engine bay and it would get hot to the touch. I then ordered the JWT heat shield and it works perfectly. No matter how long I've been driving, even in stop and go traffic the filter never gets hot. I did run my car in the 1/4 with both setups and there was virtually no difference in my times or MPH. This proves to me that there is no loss in performance of short ram over the CAI when used with a decent heat shield. I'm happy with it and I don't have to worry about the filter being pummeled with rode debris and water.
