Default Intake Shootout!

Okay I'm sick of researching this, I want to settle it once and for all. Here's my proposed plan :

I'm in the DFW area, let's get a bunch of local Z's in the area together with different intakes, ram air, cold air, whatever, and all meet at a shop with a dyno, then run them on the same car, one after the other, and get good data on each intake and see which one makes the best hp. For the sole purpose of this shootout, I just bought a cheapo $40 Ebay intake that can be cold air or ram air, and we can throw that into the mix with K&N, Injen, JWT, AEM, ARC, Stillen, etc. So come on people, anyone want to join in? (I bought the ebay one for the sake of comparison, at the end of this test I'm gonna buy whichever one puts out the most hp, thats how I'll decide)

This is a great post for a local forum. It sounds like a good idea for a shoot-out, but how do you intend to run all the intakes on the same car? Installation for each can take 1.5 hours.

With several intakes, you have to:

1. Get under the front of the car and remove the splash pan
2. Install stuff.
3. Reinstall splash pan.

I hope you have a good rate on a dyno to run that many diff intakes. Don't forget that the ambient temp will effect your HP gains also which I am sure it will change throughout the day so the test will be flawed right off the bat. Also with intakes such as the Injen and K&N they will not get justice on a dyno (a fan is just not the same as driving).

Just my .02 cents

Is it really that big of a deal? They all consist of a pipe and a filter. They cant be that much different besides the the cold air being underneath the bumper instead of where nissan designed the air flow to come in. On a civic, yes better HP. Our car is designed a hell of a lot differently than a civic. Get a plenum if you want hp
