7000 bucks to spend all at once wooo hooo!

If you are wanting to go budget than save you're money!
I spent less than 600 dollars, and got really really good butt dyno gains on all of them exept the intake which i barely felt.

Here is my list
K&N drop in 34.95 shipped(ebay)
Megan headers 190.84 shipped(ebay)
Megan y pipe 126.00 shipped (ebay)
Motordyne 1/4 inch plenum spacer 29?.?? shipped (close to 300 but not quite)

The K&N can only be felt on the freeway on the midrange.

The Megan headers gave me noticable punch all the way to redline. I was not expecting to feel anything but was taken by surprise(installed them by my self)

Y pipe was noticable also but not as much as the headers(more on top end)

the motordyne plenum spacer was just as noticable as the headers.

I did them in this exact order and took the time to get used to the power before i added another mod.

I'm not trying to say to go to Big Lots and go get mods for you're Z LOL.

I'm just saying that headers, y pipe, intake, and plenum spacers do work very well.

There is nothing wrong with the stock engine but the breathing mods are inferior to the stock motor and are hindering it badly.

Obviously i wanted to keep the stock look of the car or i would have gotten a CAI and most likely a greddy exhaust.

Man If I had you're budget i would still have 6400+ dollars to spend and could go FI if i wanted and still have money left over.

Or get some RAYS WHEELS TE37's they are so awsome.

budget wisley.

It's ok to ask questions but also do some research you're self and narrow it down to what brand you want to get.

I would love to get some of these name brand parts but i was on a budget and have a daughter and pay child support.(the whole nine yards).

You can go any direction you want to go in.

Just remember to do one part at a time, narrow it down to what you want to get and then shop around for the best price so that you maximize you're left over spending money.

Have fun.

im with you on this plan, no FI for me and if I do it will be vortech. as for your list I am with others, Strup headers are the way to go... Also for your tune you should consider the emanage ultimate, you can get the unit + harness for 550 on ebay, thats 50 bucks cheaper than the reflash, and with that extra cash plus maybe 50 more you can get it dyno tuned and it will be WAY, WAY, INFINATELY more effective than a reflash. oh and another thing to look into is either widening your factory wheels (if you have the track ed.) or getting a new set thats wide in the rear and investing in drag radials. i have the track edition and im getting my rear wheels widened to either 10.5 or 11, then putting 295 or 305 drag radials in the back. widening is $350 and tires are $400, that is probably the most effective acceleration mod on the whole list right there. good luck!

hmmm so i guess strup is better than dc sports? :

-strup headers
-kinetix tp w/res
-greddy evo2
-MREV spacer
-Nismo CAI
-3.91 gears w/nismo lsd
-emanage

this sounds doable?

here are some pics to give you an idea why you should think about installing headers.

and by the way the easiest mod to install would be the K&N drop in.
It's like cleaning out the lint trap in you're clothes dryer.

Now prove to us all with an independant dyno and/or track times/trap speeds that Z's with stock cams NEED/BENEFIT with aftermarket headers? Ive never seen a Z with full bolt-ons and headers trap higher than me, or even put down higher whp numbers than me(non rev-up motor)....I think headers unless you have cams are a waste of $$$. Now prove me wrong

Hey Alberto,

Happy to oblige..

Here is an independent dyno chart submitted by a fellow list member who put the STRUP headers on his basically stock 05 350Z - just has a pop charger on it.

Thanks. We got 'em on sale right now too. We're even throwing in a free Strup Performance t shirt with it! (cams not included )

Sorry independant or not, I dont trust the word/dyno of a Vendor You are trying to sell these headers, and I guarantee you(or your "independent tester") took the best run with and the worst without, judging by your low baseline.

Almost 20whp from just headers NO WAY IN HELL. I have independently dyno'd my car 5 seperate times with different mods along the way, and with a great tune now and bolt-ons gained slightly over 20whp over my REAL baseline. Please dont fill these noobs with false hope. Guys its not that easy to make power with a Z, if it was everybody would be doing it.

Hey alberto what's happinin.

I'm the one who PMed you about the powershifting and asked you for a little advice.

Well I kinda didn't want to swap out the stock cats and had to find an alternative.

And i really didn't think headers would get me anything. It was kind of a shot in the dark if you know what i mean.

all i had on the car before the headers was a drop in K&N.

And I really did feel those headers. It was a noticable difference.

It could possibly be that I had the worst set of stock headers on the entire planet earth.

i did get gains from them.

And as for other combinations with the headers I am unsure.

I also don't know how I am going to hook up with one tire spinning in my base model. I know you told me this should be my last mod but does it really make that much of a difference.

Iv'e been to the drag strip before and sometimes the staging area is slippery like as if it were a rainy day and it makes launching difficult sometimes.
(pomona drag strip).

I am only concerned with the launch and the reaction time because everything else would be in the bag.

just wondering about you're comments on the headers.

Even my buddy salem who owns RBS automotive in san bernardino thought the headers would get me little if no gain at all.(he is 2 blocks away from sleeper motorsports on I street)

Hey alberto if you had 7k to spend what would you spend it on assuming you had a base model???

Guys don't forget.
Alberto had his redline raised to 7100 rpm's.

First welcome to the forums And most importantly second, I have an 03' the 287 hp motor man, not the 7000 rpm 300hp stock. I have a Technosquare ECU that raises the rev limiter to 7100 rpm's.
end of ""

So trying to put down more power than him will be difficult with a stock ecu.

this is also something else to think about.

a higher redline when you get you're ecu reflashed.

Besides he has not thrown a rod or spun a bearing so what does that tell you.

I'm planning on getting cams, but it will be on the back burner for now.

I have no clue on which ones i want yet.

By the way, headers are a Be-Yatch to install.

Took 2 days by my self.
