Default Exhaust = Rice?

What you guys think...

I think I'll purchase exhaust.

They give you some extra ponies and can make your gas mpg higher.

Well, BullishZ, as long as you don't buy any exhaust product thats Folgers brand, I think you'll be rice free.

Oh, stay away from anything from Pep Boys or Autozone too, especially the bolt on tips with the lights inside. Those are just hideous. But lets not start the rice arguement here. Every single car forum that has mentioned the word rice has turned into a battlefield, I think we are above that though.

The exhaust tips are already fairly good size. Modest increases will probably not look too outrageous. Most of the time the extremely large tipped exhausts are intended for turbo cars. It will be interesting to see how long it will take the aftermarket to develop exhaust systems that provide good hp gains. Gains are generally fairly small on NA cars though. NIsmo obviously should be first to market.

How cool will it be if Borla puts out a system?

Cool

If Borla puts one out and if (should) add some HP I am in, they are very good systems, I have one now and the sound is great, but I'll wait to see what the stock Z sounds like.

Borla just sounds so good on Big V8 trucks and European cars.

Just to play devils advocate...is a new exhaust system worth gaining 5-7hp at the rear wheels? That's including an intake installed too. IMO, that increase won't show up on the track and you wouldn't be able to "feel" it on the street.

Now an exhaust system would make sense if one was planning on installing parts for the enigne, i.e. supercharger, pistons, throttle body, etc..

A freer flowing exhaust would help make engines improvements perform better, but only on modded engines.

If your only looking for sound...why not just a muffler plus tips?

Just a counter point

Definitely "Not Rice!" I have done exhaust on 5 of my previous vehicles including my Lexus! Like you said, better gas, better performance, and better tunes! It just gets a little 'ghetto' with those "cannons" coming out the back that are damn near touching the pavement!

Just say "NO" to canteloupe launchers.

You'd also wanna go for a full cat-back system. Hopefully, Borla, Greddy and HK$ should have one out not long after the Z is out.

Yea that honda is just aweful.

I know stromung, and they make nice DTM tipped exhaust for euro cars (VW, BMW).. same goes for Remus.

HKS, Greddy, Apex, etc are more for Japanese cars.

I think I'll probably go with Nismo exhaust, since it probably wouldnt' void the warranty.

I had borla on my 91 Twin Turbo and it sounded awesome. As for 7" tips, the tip size does nothing for performance, unless of course they are smaller than the exhaust outlet. Myself, I don't want an exhaust tip that you can fit a baby's head into.

I thought it looked like an Aspire as well... but wasn't 100% sure.
