Default plenum spacer

Is it a smart thing to install a plenum spacer yourself? or should this be done through a mechanic?

I did it with a knowledgeable friend of mine and if you mess something up you can cause serious problems. So, if you don't know what you are doing either find someone who does to help you or have a professional help.

This is not always true. Before the 350Z, I really had no knowledge of cars, but I wanted that to change. So when I ordered my popcharger and brakepads. I had no idea how to install them. But after reading this forum and asking some questions. I had more knowledge and confidence to do both install myself.

The guy above is truely right on the money. If the only mod you ever plan on doing is this.....have the mechanic do it. BUT....... You will never feel confident turning wrenches unless you get in there and do it. Dont you have a fellow Z guy in your area to supervise you?

Its fairly easy and straight forward, I did mine in 2.5 hours at a very relaxed pace including the thermal gasket. The hardest part is ensuring the bolts are properly torqued and rechecking them after a few drives.
Also, yes problems will occur it wrongly installed but they are easy to find and wil not cause damage after corrected.
I always install my own mods its a good way to learn your car.
Most mods appear more diffcult to install then they really are.

which spacer were you going to get? i think if you go with the basic MD 5/16, then you shouldn't have a problem. its just bolts....you gotta make sure you use a torque wrench though.
