Installing Motordyne spacer without torque wrench?

The gasket raises the plenum but not the strut bar because the strut bar spacers are of a fixed heigth. And for the most part, you will need the strut bar spacers. It is pretty rare that you won't need them.

I tried again last night, and I am sure that the strut bar spacers are needed.
Without the spacers, my strut bar will be touching manifold, and hard to be in place.
The best I can do is to adjust the strut bar to meet the original fastneing location
and hope it would be lower.
My hood is still bulge. I'll give it a few days to see how it goes.
BTW, I only have a basic 5/16" spacer.
