Question what is a Pop Charger exactly?

sorry for the stupid question but i have seen alot of people say they have it.. but i am unsure of what it is *yes i have searched*

what is it? what does it do exactly? i read a thread where it replaces the Intake? how many HP/TQ gain is it good for? how much does it cost?

Also the 06 Z doesnt need a plenum spacer correct? since it already has the higher output engine? sorry for my ignorance... just got the Z recently after having a modded 97 Civic for 9 years

I think they call it that because it's easy to install and just pops right in there I have no clue really, but it is a short ram air intake as the other poster said.

I have a popcharger and am very happy with it. I wanted a balance between a little extra power, sound and ease of cleaning, so I went with it. The Nismo CAI probably helps bring in more power, but I don't think it's worth it because it's a pain to clean and there is a slim chance of hydrolock. But that's just me. To each their own. From what I've read, the popcharger is probably the most popularly installed aftermarket intake for the Z.

I got my popcharger for $120 from Performance Nissan. Someone else paid $109 from avalonracing.net:

-Avalon Racing often has great deals on Jim Wolf products like the pop charger ($109.00) and the Flywheel/Clutch Combo ($725.00).

-Performance Nissan offers top notch customer service and support.

They are both very good companies to deal with.

Ill match their flywheel / clutch price no problem...
Their pop charger, not sure if that is still accurate, the cost on popchargers has gone up...

Did I forget to mention that Performance will price match on most items? Can I get some free wheel locks or something?

Doesn't the JWT have some sort of velocity-stack feature built into the tube? I thought I read that somewhere.

you can try asking for a price-match when you call performance nissan parts. ordered my nismo catback there and popcharger from avalon racing, but the guy ended up offering the popcharger for $110. so i cancelled my order at avalon racing and ended saving the shipping cost i would've paid as well.
