Motordyne 5/16" spacer = loss of power??
Perhaps the 1st JDM install of the MD 5/16 Iso Thermal spacer.
1/ The fit and finish of the MD parts are superb. Kudos to Tony !
2/ I had the same first initial impression .. butt felt some loss down low .. but seemed to kick in around 4500-5000 RPMs.
3/ I put on about 150 miles after the install - driving the expressways and mountain twisties. The engine felt smoother driving at high RPMs .. and I drove fast, high RPMs, a lot in 2nd and 3rd high RPM shifts on the twisties. Also, fast up-and-down on the expressways .. 60-130 mph.
4/ I might try to reset the ECU again later on and see what happens.
5/ The plenum is definetly cooler with a hand test. Weather over here yesterday and today .. around 40-50 degrees F -- so the coolant valve remained open.
Overall .. initial impression -- I like it.

I can't wait to get my 5/16" spacer... delivery is supposed to be Thursday. I previously had a Kinetix V.4 plenum, so I'm anxious to see how the spacer compares to the full plenum, both in sound and performance.

I parted out my car about 10 months ago thinking that I was going to have to sell the Z to get a truck for work, but it ended up that the Z is fine. I loved the KV4 when I had it, so hopefully the space won't disappoint.
I just installed the 5/16" Iso Thermal spacer this weekend and noticed the difference right after the install.
I don't know if it has anything to do with the other mods I have already done. (Injen CAI & Greddy Evo2 exhaust) All I know is that I feel gains all across the power band, and notice a deeper tone in the exhaust.
Extremely happy with product, the install was a breeze with the detailed instructions with pictures, and professionally individually packaged and labeled parts.
Thanks for a great product.
Here ia a pic and a link to a sound clip of exhaust:

First congrats and knew you wouldn't be disappointed. I think this is one of those Best Bang for the Buck mods. Also as you can see from the pic a sleeper mod. You can't tell its there unless you are looking for it. Enjoy!!!
FYI: The vid isn't there.

I noticed an every so slight difference in low rpm throttle response just at initial tip-in. It's no real big deal to me though because the power is there and the reduced throttle response won't impact the car runs at deeper throttle applications. It really didn't surprise me though because the spacer increased the plenum volume therefore some of the low rpm air flow is gets slightly disrupted.
I just put my car on the dyno this past Saturday...
I pulled 250 RWHP... 238 lb/ft torque
Seeing how the car comes with about 227 RWHP and 228 lb/ft torque...
I am pretty satisfied with the upgrades and am going to be installing headers this weekend, and am in the market for the best high flow cats available...If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.
High Flow cats? or Test Pipes?
Motordyne 5/16" spacer, Injen CAI, Greddy Evo2 exhaust...

BTW imk Soooooooo close to buying this mod.. heh
+1 for MD spacer (I have the 3/8" older version) -it works great, easy to install, and Tony at motordyne was super helpful in getting me the extra parts I needed (I bought the spacer off a G35 and needed the strut bar spacers)

Well after some time driving with the spacer and new Kinetix cats, there is great mid-range and upper power band. By far, these are the best two power adders you can get for the money.

One thing that I noticed is that thhe strut bar and the Injen CAI are rubbing the inside of the hood ever so slightly... just enough to scratch the paint a little.
Anyone else experiencing the same?

yeah the reason i asked about others clearence compared to mine is everyknow and then i hear a metal "klanging" sound im not sure if its the plenum touching the strut or even something back around the spare tire. sound travels funny in this car so im not sure if its from the front or back.
just from looking at my pics a few posts up does that seem to be about what you guys clearence looks like?

My clearence is about the same as yours, but I do not have any noises comming from the car. I had someone at the Dyno (I went to a Dyno day that costs $40 for 3 pulls), and someone else with the same exhaust (Greddy Evo2), but no spacer complained of a clanging from the exhaust hitting the cross member, but again, I don't have any noises.
