I just posted 2 of the pulls on video at streetfire.net.... here are the links. I ordered headers and test pipes which I will be installing upon arrival... I love this car!!! My first car was a 1978 280Z... I feel like I have come full circle.

Finally had the time to down the battery over 24 hours .. pulled the negative cable .. and ...

Then, after 1 week of learning ... pulling harder than it did before the MD spacer install.

Great ! Very satisfied !!

Why didn't you just reset the ECU with the pedal trick ???

Its just a way of resetting the ECU without losing your radio station presets.
Is outlined in the last page of the spacer installation manual. Its available for download off our website.

allright sweet. I should have asked how instead of what..but you answered that too. Not to hate but I have my z1 spacer coming in two days. I'll tell you how it performs. I read up and essentially it is the same thing. 5/16 size angeled etc... You have any experience with it?

I've never used it. Apparently its angled like the AAM spacer used in the Sport Z Magazine "Plenum Mod Shootout".
If you're looking for comparative information on plenum mods for the 350Z/G35, the most definitive information came from this magazine.

Sport Z Magazine (now Nissan Sport Magazine) did a series of independent and comparative dyno tests of various different plenum mods a
while back and published their test results. These tests give an indication of what the various plenum mods do and how they compare.

The MD spacers made the most power and made gains everywhere on the curve. (IE no loss of Tq or HP anywhere on the curve.)

By comparison, the angled spacer was the only plenum mod to show a loss of power at various points on the curve.

Stock - Red
Angled spacer (A) - Orange
Motordyne 5/16" - Yellow
Motordyne 1/2" - Green
Crawford (C) - Blue
Kinetix (K) - Dark Blue

The bar chart below shows the averaged gain of each plenum mod over the entire curve.

So yes, overall there are differences between the various plenum mods.

I hope this answers your question.
Tony

Interesting. But the AAM plenum spacer and the Z1 are two different companies so it wouldn't be accurate to compare both. I'll tell you if I notice a loss of power when I install it tomorow. I don't even see how that is possible as more air is allowed into the cylinder banks.

sometimes when you have a smoother powerband, but more power/tq than with a more "peaky" powerband, you might think/feel that you've lost HP/tq when you've actually gained hp/tq.

this happened a lot with the honda guys (vtec.)
when vtec kicked in on their stock gsr, type r, whatever, that's the only time they made power and it was a drastic, very noticeable change, and also very audible.

after they made a number of mods, got tuned, etc..they made more power everywhere but noticed vtec "didn't kick in as hard."

this was due to the smoother powerband/transition into vtec because they made power downlow as well.

i'm guessing for you guys that installed it and guaged power by your butt dyno, you might say omg wtf i think i lost power?!?

if you're really so sure, but want proof:

go to nearest facility with dyno-

do 3 dyno runs or more-

uninstall spacer-

do another 3 dyno runs or more-

compare the graphs of when you had the spacer and when you didn't, and look at the numbers.

there's your REAL dyno.

just my .02

oh replying back to my last post. I installed and it now runs great. Took a while for the idle to smooth out which i think might be because I had the gasket off center when I first started the car up. But ya I didn't lose power anywhere..just gained it everywhere

How can you butt-dyno 500-2000rpm? Seriously... there's no power to be had there. I never drive my car below 2k RPM except for idle and traffic.
