whats up fellow z drivers look i just want to know what are test pipes and how do they work. and can i use test pipes even without a turo kit or do i even need them. so far i just plan to get headers and exhaust so what are test pipes

test pipes are just a straight through pipes that will replace your cats. They aren't exactly "legal" but who gives a ****.

You will when you have to get your car inspected and it won't pass the emissions testing.

No, not unless they climb under your car. It is really more of an inspection/emissions testing issue.

well if you have an aftermarket exhaust its most likely gonna be loud and raspy...but as for smell i dont think so...exhaust smells like exhaust...just give it a huff.

They probably could, but they would have to be looking for them to know. As long as you have an exhaust (even an aftermarket one) with a muffler the sound wouldn't be that much louder.

so u think i stand a chance wit cops not noticing it? i have the HKS exhaust...if that matters??

I think you would be fine with the cops. The problem you will have is with getting the car inspected.

oh well if thats the case then im ok...car gets inspected 11/07 so i have a good amount of time to play wit it...anyone else have an opinion on this??

Don't waste your time and money with test pipes. With a nearly stock Z, a good quality high flow cat will be just as good performance-wise, legal, and less trouble overall (no CELs, non-foulers, etc....)

i put test pipes on mine hate the smell love the power. isnt it illegal in some places to remove the cats with less than 60,000 miles on them. they prob wont be able to tell but just wondering.
