Whats the deal w/ the y-pipe? Is it a major bottleneck in the z's exhaust system, should it be replaced with an aftermarket one, or is it simply a fitment issue? I'd like to get the jic 505 system, do I need to replace the y-pipe? Should I?
What about the greddy system? It's been dubbed a 'complete catback system'; am I to pressume that this means it replaces/includes a y-pipe?
I'd appreciate your thoughts.
Regards.

Yes,
Catback kits do include new Y-pipes and it is yet to be determined if they are restrictive or not yet. After market will flow better that is a guarantee and the cats are the main restriction.
I always mod my stock intake and exhaust first, it's a gimmie to me, like flossing my teeth.
I will say that the stock Y-Pipe is 2.25 and sometimes down to 2 inches through the Y. My new system is 2.5 all the way back. This will be an advantage when I chip this puppy.
