i just got my spacer
i just got my plenum space i can wait to install it... i hope it will make a big difference. why do i have to take the battery terminal out...is it make difference if i will leave it on.
all installation instructions will ask you to first remove negative battery terminal. It's mainly for your safety when you're poking around under the hood. I'm not sure if the Z is the same but on my old honda that also had the added effect of resetting your ecu.
I have never disconnected the battery on any plenum/manifold swap that I have done. Just unbolt the throttle body and set it aside still connected to the harness.
Can you post some more details?
Like Manufactuer/Model,etc?
Will the Engine strut fit with this Spacer?
I guess you will let us know tha answer when you are done the install.
That is what has been stopping me from putting on a spacer on my 05.
Thanks

i know unhooking the battery terminal is the easiest part i am just curious about it...and hell yeah iam in a hurry hahah.. iam like somebody else there when they got something new for their car they cant wait to install it and see or feel the difference...i dont buy parts and let it sit in the garage for weeks.

yeah... let us know the result...if there is any noticeable gain in throttle response for instance.
you should always unplug the battery before working on the engine/exhaust
btw, why does this even desrve a thread - you just ****ing unloosen 1 nut and slide the cable off the negative terminal, ooooh, hard, better think about whether or not to do that for the next day or two

today I installed my 3/8" MD spacer (I bought it used)...everything fits fine - a bit tight for the strut bar, but it clears. I have a '05 350Z. I didn't remove the (-) battery cable.
sounds great!! (I also have an AEM CAI and above 5K rpms, it's wonderful!)

Disconnecting the battery resets the ecu, allows you to disconnect the throttle body without having to do an idle relearn procedure, as well as protects you from any possible shock damage.
Have you ever accidentially touched the wrong part of an alternator, with a metal tool while the battery is connected???
The only thing you have to do when you reconnect the battery is set the clock and radio stations again. I know, life isn't easy!!

I had the strangest problem with my Z after installing the 5/16" spacer and it had nothing to do with the spacer. For some reason when I went to start the car after it was warmed up initially it wouldn't stay idling unless I bumped the throttle.
Turns out that there was carbon buildup in the throttle body that was making the plate stick. After cleaning it all was good!
Overall it's a great mod with benefits throughout the RPM range and the price is also very reasonable.

I am assuming you made a little spot for your plenum on the shelf???
You're in no big hurry???
On the shelf???? Is it shiny?
Are you sure you want to do an installation because unhooking the battery terminal is the easy part?
Yes, leaving it connected will cause a nuclear holocaust.

umm congrats? Is there any point to this thread?
edit: Oh and it is important to disconnect yout battery for saftey reasons as well as resetting your ecu will help the computer compensate for the new mod.
