I finally ordered a Borla True Dual exhaust now I have some install questions...
I just ordered it today. I went with the Borla because I wanted an exhaust that was a little bit louder and deeper than the stock system but not too loud.
I thought about the HKS hi power but I must be one of the only people on this forum that doesn't like the way it looks. I don't like "seeing" the exhaust when I'm looking at a car from behind. I like the way the stock system looks and the Borla appears to look the same in all of the pictures I've seen. Plus, the HKS is about $600.00 more than the Borla!!!
I won't be installing it for about a month but I have a few questions about the install. What kind of sealant do you guys recommend I use to help insure a good seal inbetween all the fittings? Should I not use anything and just make sure I torque each clamp properly?
I may just get the whole system welded if a leak develops but I'm hoping to install it properly so it won't leak.
I already have a Popcharger (who doesn't), 5/16th spacer, grounding kit and Strup headers. I will post a sound clip once I get the Borla installed. I didn't find any clips of the Borla TD with aftermarket headers and stock cats. I don't know if headers affect the sound of the exhaust with stock cats installed. I couldn't tell a difference in the exhaust note after I installed the Strups with the the stock exhaust. The popcharger is louder than the stock exhaust, especially with the spacer!
I may get a set of Crawford high flow cats or test pipes later on but I want to see how it sounds with the stock cats first. I can't stand an exhaust that is obnoxiously loud and I think changing out the stock cats may put it over the edge for me.
I will get it dynoed again once the exhaust is broken in. This dyno run will show the difference the spacer, grounding kit (nothing), and exhaust made. My last dyno run was with just the Popcharger and Strups. I'm hoping to hit around 265-270whp. I'm also hoping my A/F is still safe. We'll see...

I didn't use any sealant and have had zero problems in over a year. The hardest part of the install is putting the last piece into the rubber gaskets.(you'll need some kind of lube). I would also recommend using new exhaust gaskets. The only part of the exhaust that seems suspect is the crappy half A#$ed H pipe. You might consider getting that part welded because there is a small gap that is barely covered by the clamps.

No sealent used here, and no trouble. Before I got it installed, I did some research and 2 places told me not to use sealent. Definately use lubricant to make the pieces fit together and also use a rubber hammer to make sure all the connections are snuggly put together so that it will be the correct length so the hangers can reach the exact place. That is what a lot of people don't do and complain about why the hangers are so hard to get into place.
