Charge this
Well the Z turned over 1,200 miles today, so the Pop Charger is going in Friday or saturday, weather permitting.
Anybody have an idea what is considered over oiling the filter, as opposed to what is considered enough oil? I sprayed the filter with a light coat of K&N oil but who knows if it's considered light or heavy.
I guess if anything lighter would be better than too much oil.
Guess I'll have to keep searching
Sure wish the rain would go away and warm up so I can paint the calipers

I looked at the filter and smelled it when I got it and it didn't look like or feel like it was pre oiled to me. If it was, it's pre oiled times 2 now.
The install was simple, though I was fighting with the rain. I still need to mount the heat shield, as soon as it stops raining for 10 freaking minutes. The thing does add some noise above 4,000 RPM and sounds really nice and growley at 5,000 to 6,000rpm but not as much as I was hoping for, so now I'm gonna have to start shopping for a used Nismo exhaust to add. I want more sound without having to rev the pi$$ out of the car all the time to get the sound I like
I didn't disconnect the battery and do the brake light trick to reset the CPU thingy, since it wasn't in the JWT instructions and I had no issues with any check engine lights or the like.
I did manage to snap off the tab on the stock air box that helps keep the wires to the MAS out of the way, no biggie, there is another wire clip/tab anyway.
I will be putting the stock filter back on when I bring it in for servicing. Wonder how long it will take the dealer to figure out that the factory air filter never gets dirty
I was going to install the polished intake tube I bought but again it was raining like a **** and no garage to work in. I just wanted to get the Pop filter mounted ASAP, so I wouldn't end up not being able to finish the basic filter install and car would be stuck where it was parked..
After thinking about it, I can't really see a reason for the using the polished tube anyway and I'm probably just gonna sell it, since it will only be seen when the hood is open, which is probably like 10 minutes a year. Seemed like a cool thing at the time but I don't see much point in shinny bling under the hood. I think I'd rather use the money for 2 tanks of gas instead
I will list it under the classifieds section, if anybody is interested in the tube.
I also have the factory 2006 floor mats too. Took them out on the first day I bought the car. The design is ok but I don't care for the fabric they used because it kind of looks like astro turf
Mods so far:
15 mm H&R wheel spacers out back
Hotchkis springs
35% tint sides, 20% rear
B&M polished aluminium shift ****
Nismo floor mats
"Z" lic frame
Pop Charger
Honda Eliment antenna
Z kick plates
aluminium pedal covers
blah blah same crap different Z
Soon:
Spolier will be finshed in paint shortly.
When it stops raining gonna paint calipers, install spoiler and remove rear wiper.
Need Nismo exhaust!!!
Still need to wax the damn thing (freaking RAIN!)
I want a beefier shift ****. Damn Momo's are pricey!!
Need to adjust clutch engagemnt point still.
Need to figure out why sometimes the clutch pedal makes a clicking sound when it's first depressed on the way down. My guess is it might be the switch that tells it that it can't start when it's in gear??? Dunno for sure yet.
As you can see pretty much all mods are for looks and not HP. Sure 500 RWHP would be nice but oh the $$$ involved is out of my league for sure.
300 HP is still double the HP of my beater daily driver truck

BTW where the hell did you find blue K&N oil. I asked for blue K&N oil at the local Auto store and they looked at me like I was on drugs.

hey, there was a thread saying that if you install a pop charger your car may day while driving it.... may want to consider that. I have 1000 miles on mine and I plan to keep it stock unti the warranty dies...

You mean die/stall? I read those threads and I'm prretty sure it's because they were over oiled.
Leave my car stock for 3 years? No way. I could die in 2 weeks with a stock Z and then were would I be?

I have had zero probs with how the car runs with the filter. And since it now has over 1,500 miles it has been taken up to redline a few times, with no ill effects

Really they are naturally white? I know the JWT oil is blue or maybe clear but I thought it was blue to match the color of their blue filter material. Would have been nice if they said their filters are pre oiled
I don't think I said I used blue K&N oil. It's the red K&N. So yes it looks a little of a off blue.
I did put a pretty light coat of oil on it and I've had no probs at all so far, so I guess it's lesson learned.

Most people say the dealer won't give ya crap about having one installed but I've heard others say different. It only takes 5 minutes to swap it out and to have the peace of mind of not having to worry about whether they will or won't, is worth 5 minutes to me.
