Close to stock exhaust sound?

I've yet to install mine, so I can't comment on EXACTLY how it sounds compared to stock. I'm assuming/hoping it will be a little more aggressive sounding than stock
If you look hard enough you may find one for around $900.

its legitimate sound that i've gotten nothing but positive feedbacks from people
... sounds JUST right
Unless you object to getting more for less money, consider the PIT exhaust. Sounds like a Nismo on steroids, looks like a full stainless Apexi n1. An incredible bargin.
Maybe they should change the name to something Japanese sounding (how about "Hello Kitty N1") and raising the price to $2,000, then they would sell out.

i wanted the exact same sound when i started. I did my nismO Headers and Cat-Back at the same time and it was perfect. Unless your WOT, its sounds pretty much like stock...but louder

Hopefully it (Nismo exhst) isn't to loud with my Headers and HFCs, not TPs...
That's my clip on the previous pg. and what my current setup sounds like.

What headers and high flow cats should I get? Also, if I get the Nismo exhaust, which I most likely am, will I need to pick up a y-pipe?

I may as well throw in my two cents. I struggled with exhaust choice (like many people) and decided to go Nismo after doing a ton of research on what I felt to be a critical point. Drone. My wife and I do alot of interstate travel during the summer and the Z will now be our vacation car. As such, I didn't want an exhaust that would drone more than stock at interstate speeds. I installed my Nismo and immediately took it out on the interstate and found it to be actually a bit quieter than the stock system on my 06' at 70-75mph. I was relieved. Overall, I love the sound and looks. Low rpms are deeper and louder than stock and heavy throttle is really a big improvement over stock. The installation was a breeze, partly due to it being a brand new exhaust I was replacing. They tend to be easier to work with than an old system
The only trouble I ran into was that the drivers side tip was about a 1/4" lower than the other. Rather than bending either of the two brackets to make them match I decided to remove the passenger side bracket and shim each of the three bolts with two stainless washers between the bracket and the frame surface. Bingo. Both nice and level. Took me maybe 90 mins start to finish.
My question is now for what intake to choose. I'm leaning towards a drop-in K&N filter for my stock 06' airbox. I love the VQ mechanical sounds and I'm not really sure I want to cover them with a short ram type intake. Anyone with a drop in K&N type filter able to tell me if there's much, if any, increase in intake noise?

I hesitate to dump the stock airbox beacuse it has obviously been engineered to maximize every aspect. Certainly, if the Nissan engineers thought that a conical filter would be superior, they would have designed the system to accomodate one. Also, the path of the air is very straight ans unobstructed. And, lastly, the stock system IS both cold air & short ram air. Cold, high pressure air builds up in the cavity behind the bumper and flows directly into the snorkle. What could be better?
The factory has created one improvement, they added a true velocity stack to the opening before the MAF on the 2006 airbox. This must flow more air, more effecently, or Nissan wouldn't have bother to re-tool this part. I'm getting a '06 airbox for my '04.
You might consider the Nismo sport air filter. it is a high flow, dry, drop in replacement. It is expensive though, $85 from Courtesy Nissan.

theres a company out here in socal called Fast Intentions (www.fastintentions.com) that has a complete set of true duals from test pipes-back soon hitting the market. i got to hear it and drive it because it was tested on my car and let me tell you this... the sound was stock x 5 in volume with a growl in WOT. It was perfect. not to mention the gains were incredible... keep an eye out for these guys. they are in their final stages and the exhaust system will be released soon. you should definitely check this out before you purchase anything.
