A'PEXi N1 Exhaust System350Z
Anybody got Apexi n1 exhaust on? I might be interested and wanted to know if the sound is really loud. I'm pretty new about exhaust and some people in the past had told me that this exhaust is very loud (civic/integra), and may effect in driving.
I have it.... no it is not the same N1 sound that civics and other cars have. It sounds very nice, not raspy/loud at all... very Z-ish.
Here's a link about my install w/ pics

Exhaust sound is so hard to judge. All I can say is I was able to do a side by side comparison with a Nismo, and the PIT and the Nismo were very similar in tone and loudness. Maybe the PIT was slightly louder at WOT. Both sounded great, retaining the "Z" tone quality.

Yeah the Z tone is not lost at all. As for the PIT replica or whatever it is, it's not the Apexi, and there has to be a reason why its so damn cheap. I mean the Apexi is cheap, but I think the PIT is something less than 200.... now that price has to throw up a flag if you ask me.
I helped my friend yestereday install his N-1 and its not loud at all. I bought the hybrid megaphone and it sounds just like stock. The N-1 hand more volume but not much. I drove behind him for about 10 mintues and could hardly hear it on the road. The N-1 looks pretty sweet as well.

Yeah, there's a red flag. Why do Japanese exhaust systems cost so much? Why are so many people willing to pay it? Do they make more power? Look better? Sound better? Or do they have more prestige because they are Japanese? Spend your money however you want, but don't be fooled into believing that a quality exhaust ought to cost $1,000 and up. An exhaust is a very simple device. Any muffler shop can turn one out in about an hour. There is about $20 of raw materials in a typical system. The rest is hype, hot air, silly names (Buddy Club? Do Luck?), and shipping costs.
Honestly its pretty much the most identical exhaust from the hanger welds to the position they are in to the type of canister used.. seems to me its identical. I think they went cheap and easy and used a china mass ***** manufacturing job on it. china redistributes them not under the apexi name. just my 2cents

China Mass *****!? Yikes.
The company I work for has 3 offices in China, and I'm pretty sure that ****** have got nothing to do with it. I suggest you check out the shoes on your feet and the shirt on your back, not to mention your computer, your plasma TV, and a large majority of all the articles at the local Walmart. Chinese product is not cheap...it is inexpensive and excellent in quality, otherwise it wouldn't survive in our capitalistic world.

When it comes down to it, you still have a knock-off exhaust system. If you don't care about that and you want to save 300 bucks, then thats awesome. I would much rather go with the real thing and not take a risk on getting screwed by a crappy product. Just look at all the ebay knock-off horror stories.

First of all, one of the reasons these parts are expensive is to cover the expense the company put in too all the research and design while the part was being created. Perfect example: crawford Z parts. They are some of the most expensive, however they produce some of the best gains, and yet they're not from Japan. Yeah some products you pay for just name (veilside, etc.), but the Apexi N1 is not one of them. On top of that, you bought an exhaust from a company that stole the design from a top brand, having put absolutely no R&D into it, and is able to rake in profit without a higher price.

I agree that the PIT is a shameless copy of the Apexi.
The point is that the PIT a PERFECT copy, it does everything the Apexi does for half the price. Plus it is full stainless, beautifully finished, etc. Do I like it? Very much. Are some people happier if they pay more for a brand name? Appearently so.
If you go to Asia, you can see Nike shoes and Walmart no-name shoes being manufactured side by side in the same factories. You get the point. Are unknown brands a risk? Well sometimes. But PIT shipped me the exhaust with a no questions money back guarantee, If I wasn't pleased, they would arrange to have UPS come and pick it back up and fully refund my complete purchase price. Why would they do this? I guess that they weren't very concerned that I would send it back.
i love my apexi....maybe i payed for the name...but who cares...i got a quality product for the price. plus..i guess id rather have a brand name product with the R&D and how long they have been around...its all personal preference...
