What Exhaust ya Got?

The flex section is supposed to allow some limited movement of the exhaust seperatly from the engine - this prevents cracked flanges, etc. Don't know how the JWT TT kit is affixed to the exhaust, but on my PE TT kit, the exhaust SS headers have a flange that the turbos bolt to - then the downpipes bolt to a short pipe that converts from the turbo to the cat area- then the cats or TPs or whatever you have bolt to the Y pipe. The Y pipe has a flex on each side to allow some movement independent. If it was ridgedly bolted without the flex, the chance of cracking the headers, or any welded area would be much greater when the engine torque moves, as it will somewhat under power. That is why I am concerned about the flex section. The PE TT maniflods are prone to cracking, it has happened before. Don't know about JWT tho.
Thats what I thought. Well, I personally also have the SVRTech solid motor mounts so there is no movement of the engine. I am no exhaust expert so I don't really feel comfortable in offering a definate yes or no answer. I personally am not worried about it. My 1970 Chevelle has no flex section and polyeurethane motor mounts, as do most older cars, but that is also a completely different design than the Z. I can't imagine, even with the stock motor mounts, that the exhaust would be solid enough with the hangers and all to crack a weld, but it obviously has happened before. Sorry I couldn't really answer your question on that, but I am sure Scott (overZealous1) from SVRTech could better answer that.
I think you made the right move going to the solid motor mounts, something I am considering. Did you use the spacer he provides to give better alignment (less height drop) for TT cars?
I would think that you are fine with the solid motor mounts.

Yes I did use spacers for the motor mounts, but they were one of the first pairs so he didn't offer them with the kit yet. VRT put their own in there. The solid motor mounts are awesome.
