first get a dyno run to actually see if ur getting a burp somewhere in the RPM range.. UTEC will do quite a bit of difference.. i just got a dyno on my car today it was at 260whp w/o utec and with the base map it was almost 275ish or 270..forget. The map was pretty crappy and it was running real rich...like 10s.. With a full tune i could probably see 285 maybe 290

I would say swap the stock filter back on and take a test drive, that will eliminate whether it was a filter problem or possible MAF sensor problem.

My car has been incredibly slow in the upper rpms (3500+) ever since I got all these mods. The MREV added some torque down low but i'm still losing power up top. I actually have tested my car against another 06 with only an injen intake and nismo exhaust and he keeps pulling. I'm wondering if the ecu is to blame. Any thoughts?

why dont you try it the illogical and free way??

remove mods..

take to dealer get them to fix under warranty./ tell what was wrong

add one mod at a time, try it out, then add another....

that way you can see what single or combo of mods is the problem if there still is a problem..

While I'd love for you to install purchase and install a UTEC swap your stock intake manifold back on the car and let me know if it is better?

I cleaned out the maf sensor and its the same. I did however find a problem. The k&n filtercharger kit comes with a k&n filter that is closed on one side. When installed the "ram air" feature of the stock intake is useless and I wonder if it even gets enough air flow. Heres a pic for you guys, i'm not sure if its clear enough.

I thought you are suppose to take that piece out? The way I understand it is you have to take off the front bumper and slide the air duct out of there.

Well there isnt much path for the air. The end of the filter is one piece chrome which kills the purpose of a cone style filter. The stock 350z gets fresh air from the front of the radiator through that air duct, now the k&n is tucked so far against it that its blocking the duct, plus the filter itself has a metal piece in the front which also blocks inlet air flow.

I don't think it's your maf - unless you did some offroading on your z. You might wanna triple check the piping of your cai. I've had my popcharger go loose, once and I felt myself losing a whole of of power. K&N's been know to absorb water too, amongst other issues.

I'm taking a plunge and am going to save up for a gruppe-m and drop all this mumbo jumbo.

I honestly would swap to your stock lower plenum and see if that fixes it.

The MREV actually made a big difference in mid-range torque. I drove my buddies Z and it feels so much slower than mine mid-range, but at high rpm its a different story.

This is what i'm talking about when I say closed end filter.

And this is a regular popcharger filter.

I'm sure there is no air flow for that filter I am running, i'll do some experimenting but in the mean time the gruppe-m looks mighty good.
