Default Power problems have risen for this 06'

Hey guys, here are my mods and here is what happened.

K&N Filtercharger
Test pipes
Y-pipe
MREV

My car has been incredibly slow in the upper rpms (3500+) ever since I got all these mods. The MREV added some torque down low but i'm still losing power up top. I actually have tested my car against another 06 with only an injen intake and nismo exhaust and he keeps pulling. I'm wondering if the ecu is to blame. Any thoughts?

I may be wrong, but I think something has changed with the ECU in 06. The test pipes may be causing problems. This is a wild guess though. Try resetting the ECU and see if that helps short term...if it gets slower over time the ECU is compensating for something, my first guess would be the test pipes.

I've reset it a zillion times I think. I have done the negative battery terminal removal, I have done the manual reset by technosquare and none of them worked. I know its running very rich because my exhaust is black. I'm thinking its the test pipes also, but other people have such good luck with test pipes and now all of a sudden my engine loses power because of it. Anyone have any experience with the 06' ecu's that can chime in on this discussion?

One possible problem might be the K&N. If it came with too much oil, you may have gummed up the fine wires in the MAF. I've seen this happen before.

Several members have reported losses when adding test pipes. Don't know why. Try putting your stock cats back on and see what happens.

Funny thing is, the car got really slow after I installed the k&n.

Yeah, my K&N filter gummed up my MAF on my WRX and played havoc with me for a couple weeks until I finally figured it out. I had a loss of power and detonation because of it. I would switch back to your stock filter since that is an easy fix and see if it helps. Next, I would see if you can borrow your friends MAF to see it that fixes it. Again, easy test and switch. If that fails it will probably be your test pipes.

It would make sense to run a hotter plug... more spark=more fuel burnt.

What are you supposed to clean electrical parts with, carb cleaner?

Actually they say if you go colder you'll have a stronger spark.

First you have to see if you are feeling a power loss or there is an actual power loss. So a dyno test is necessary for diagnostics.

What you may be experiencing is a lean fuel mixture at 3,500 plus. If so, its time for a ECU tune.

I think you over oiled your filter. Try replacing it and see if it helps. Also I would recommend a reflash. Usually once you do HFC's/TPs a reflash will help out.

I never oiled it. I opened the box and installed it, some people say you should leave it on a piece of newspaper overnight for it to dry off before installing (which I didnt do).

Actually I do have a leak in the y-pipe gasket but thats beside the point. I wouldnt lose that much power just from a exhaust leak.

I'm still trying to figure out....what mods do you have that are supposed to trump an injen cai and a nismo exhaust?? You have test pipes, and MREV (Which transfers some of the power from the top to midrange)....seems to me like a full exhaust is better than a Y pipe & test pipes.

I'm still trying to figure out how you are gonna win.
