Default Headers or high flow cats?

What do you guys think? Would I get the same benefit if I went with just test pipes or high flow cats instead of headers? Or do you guys think I should get both headers and high flow cats? Does it really matter? I would appreciate any feed back. Thanks

I'd get the high flow cats. It's a good probability you may run lean on headers, so that'll be the last thing I'd get. You outta get your ecu reflashed after headers. You may run lean on your TP, too.

Def. get test pipes or HFCs before headers. With any sort of exhaust mod you are going to run more lean. If you ask me, start with the part that is cheaper, see if you're satisfied. If not, then take the plunge on the headers.

good idea to get both. If money is an issue then just HFC for now.

Ya, we have been doing some testing on our Test Pipes, Resonated Test pipes and HF Cats recently. If you want it quiet then get the HF Cats.

Default headers /hi flow cats

go with crawford cats (500 per set)they perform and sound great and use all factory mounting brackets so less chance of rattles,in fact i would do these as my 1st or 2nd mod they actually made more of a diff. than my exhaust they would probably even sound great w/ stock exhaust

Whatever you decide remember that if you open up the exhaust end of your engine you have to open up the intake more too. One follows the other.

i just did crawford cats, having a lil problem with them now, but just remember headers are more expensive and u probally have to have a shop install, cats u can do yourself, if you don't mind having high blood pressure for a little while. heh

I already have Cams, headers and a Cat Back exhaust (all NISMO) with a 5/16" plenum spacer and the A/F ratio is almost perfect. I tried megan test pipes and dumped them immediately (too noisy for me, let alone the rasp; cop magnet). I am about to add Hi-Flow cats before I re-flash and was leaning towards Crawford. What problems are u having?

My AF ratio improved after I installed a set of Strup headers. I did a baseline with just a Popcharger. I then installed the Strups and my AF was smoother and just about perfect.

From all I've read about changing out the stock cats to hi flows or test pipes seems to throw off you AF not headers. Especially test pipes! I was interested in getting Hi flow cats or test pipes but after reading about so many people having problems with AF, rattles, cracking, rasp, exhaust being too loud, etc. I decided headers was the more reliable way to go. I still may install a set of Hi flow cats one day but for now I am happy with the sound of the Borla td and stock cats. I am nervous about installing hi-flows just to gain a few more horses but then having an exhaust that is too loud or having AF problems.
