Default Injen cold air intake and water

I installed a Injen CAI today with the MAF, and the sticker stated that driving in the rain will force water into my motor. I have an '06 and the filter sits right behind the grill. Is the rain a problem? Does the plastic panel below, the one with 14 bolts, help keep most of the rain out? It has no bi-pass valve. I heard Injen makes a filter shield? Anyone use one? Any ideas?

Don't sweat it. Before i put on my vortech i drove my car with an injen intake for 35,000 miles, all seasons, all weather, literally from coast to coast and never had any issues. Lots of people have posted on here worrying about this, but the simple fact is that you'd pretty much have to be in water so deep that the filter was submerged to have issues. In fact, in the SINGLE instance i can recall hearing of someone having problems, they DID have the filter submerged. Don't bother with the shield. It almost negates the point of having an intake in that position.

Is it possible for a long intake such as Injen to ingest water? Yes. Is it probable? No.

Just keep the filter clean and oiled and you'll be fine.

I've been driving my Injen around in all the rain here in Nor Cal and have not had any issues. I do intentionally avoid deep, or even what appearers to be deep water. If I lived in an area where I knew roads flooded on a regular basis I might not have gone with this setup though.

If you are really worried about it you can convert it to a short ram for the season or full time.

I drove through the craziest rain storm I've ever seen with the Injen CAI on and it was fine.
