Default Maf Sensor?

HAS ANYONE TAKEN A LOOK AT THEIR MAF SENSORS? CAN THEY BE PORTED AND DO THEY COME WITH A SCREEN THAT CAN BE TAKEN OFF? I ALSO OWN AN LS1 AND WAS WONDERING IF THEY WERE SIMILAR BECAUSE i DID ALL OF THESE MODS AND MADE SOME GAINS.

I know you maybe excited about the possibilities of your MAF, but, no need to yell.

I haven't taken apart my intake, yet, so I couldn't tell you. I wouldn't think that you would see a gain from this. Especialy not as much as you might see on an LS1. Be my guest to try and tell us what ends up happening though.

No... the Maf is in plastic and have no screen in it, is already high flow, in my opinion the only thing to do is change it for other more big (when is out...of course) I use to own a LT1, I know what you talking about!

I am 100% my MAF did not have a screen. I would have removed it. I remember reading somewhere that on the Z and the Z06 come from the factory without it.

Be careful when using a CAI and a MAF sensor. Correct me if i'm wrong but I believe there are 2 types. Hot wire and Hot film. One of these are more prone to contamination from the oil that is in the filter of your CAI.

Have no idea what comes with the Z though.

Odd. The shop manual says otherwise.

Don't believe everything you read....is like when you see in a magazine the Z doing 14.3 in the 1/4 mile and some people did 13.8 stock.

IMO, magazine articles tend to provide biased information. Manuals provide non-biased iformation. Magazines give you "marshalled information", not too much details but enough to get a point across. Manuals give "unmarshalled information" where everything is detailed and procedural. But then I could be wrong. Do magazines have a standardize procedure to test the 1/4 mile performance of cars or is it "dump the clutch and see how fast you can go" ?

Just my opinion...

Hmmm.....I saw in a magazine one or two times "how to drive a sports car in a 1/4 mile" or something like that, but I don't remenber what is said.

I wonder if there is "any" performance had from relocating the MAF sensor in relation to the TB.

Good Question.... I know in some turbo kits they have to relocated the Maf, but dont know is for more performance.

I removed the screen in my LS1 MAF too. But it isn't always perfect, it's a crapshoot. Some cars it's perfect, some cars it leans out and other cars it makes run rich (exactly like the Granatelli MAF's.)

So it's something I would research before messing with. It can through your A/F numbers out of whack! Right now mine are perfect so I am content with it as is.
