installed plenum spacer, now oil is leaking from the plenum gasket?
hi guys, I just installed motordyne 3/8" plenum spacer for my car, and when I got done installing the spacer, I have noticed a slight seepage of oil or oil like substance around the front side of the plenum gasket. is this unusual? the car seems to idle and drive fine. is there even supposed to be oil in this area? I am scared that I screwed something up during install causing this. The only thing I can think of is that I used the stock longer bolts for the front bolts with the spacer on. if the bolt was too long, and tightened too deep, could this screw anything up and cause the oil leak? or is that not possible?
any inputs would be very appreciated.
thanks guys in advance

If I use the wrong bolts is it possible to make the oil come up? Is that why u are asking me for not using the bolts supplied? I bought my spacer used and the guy said to use the stock long ones with short ones.
well, having installed a few spacers, i can tell you its not normal for you to be leaking oil as you describe, so yes, you're probably using the wrong bolts. also, be careful w/ the amnt of torque you use when tightening. you could strip the threads in your lower plenum if you use too much.
I don't know how much oil you are talking about. There is some oily residue inside the plenum which you wipe with a towel. Its possible to get some of the oil on the gaskets. Then when you put the upper and lower plenum together, you might have some oily residue on the outside edge.
Motor oil simply does not come up.
