Default Test Pipe Concern

I have a 2005 6sp Coupe. I'm about to purchase my exahust and i want to get LaBree testpipes however. I hate having a CEL on the dash. Thats the only things holding me back from testpipes. I had them on my last car and got used to seeing the light on my dash but if a real problem ever arrises, you'll never know because the CEL light is already on. Is there anyway to prevent the light other than the non fouler method which doesn't work on the 05+ ? Can it be tuned out by the dealer or software? Do any of the tuners do this?

Are you sure the non-foulers don't work on the 05+? I thought they did.

How long have you had the Non foulers on your car? Alot of the info I was reading on the forums led me to beleive that the non fouler method works but only for a short period of time before the ecu eventually catches on. I remember reading some post where guys had test pipes for a maybe 2 months before the light came on which is good, but I'd prefer to have no light what so ever.

I think that it WILL work, and if not you can just have the code cleared. That way if another problem does arise, the light will go on again.

I'll give it a shot, hopefully it'll work out.

I would say go for some high flow cats, avoid the troubles.

I have yet to put my kinetix cats on, but if they work, they will be great bang for the buck.

around 1k miles. I think you've been misinformed. with the previous to a 04 zs there's a chance it may not throw a cell at all (even without a non fouler). with 05 and up, it will throw a cell, no matter what. non fouler will work with all years.

nonfouler trick is not year dependant. It works on almost all cars.

Agree. The non-fouler moves the post catalytic converter oxygen sensor out of the exhaust stream. When on-board emission controls compare the results of the two exhaust sensors, they appear similar. No problem.

Hey there - 2 things:

1 - Non foulers work fine and are the only way around the issue. Use HELP part number 42002 or 42009 at AutoZone. They will need to be drilled out to accommodate the O2 sensor head though.

2 - LaBree testpipes - if you want the quality, buy Fast Intentions. The lead engineers that made them to begin with left LaBree and opened their own shop months ago - Fast Intentions. LaBree does not have the talent there anymore - at all.

I just posted pix of the testpipes as well here
http://g35driver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91857

If your familiar with specialtyz.com, the products used to be all LaBree, they are now all Fast Intentions. We have a group buy going on now as well in the vendor forum that includes the testpipes.

Sorry - one more note: I have an 05 with headers and the testpipes - cams and head works and much more - no CEL with foulers - been running this way for over 7000 miles. I haven't heard of not working if it is done right. I do know of people who have over drilled the foulers though, so that could be an issue for some.

For $5 - you can't go wrong for trying...just make sure you reset the ECU.

So these don't make SES light come off?

I have APS TPs with non foulers (2005 Z) and I am continually throwing SES. I disconnected the negative terminal of my batt and the SES light went off for about 2 days then came back : \ Havent left the battery off for longer than a few minutes, so I may try leaving it over night. Dunno if it will make a difference though.
