Default Where to Place Wideband / EGT

hey guys, I did a search for this with no luck, so hopefully someone can help me out.

I'm looking to do either an AEM wideband and/or an EGT guage. With the V configuration, and 2 headers, I'm not really sure where I should be placing the sensors. I know the EGT should be as far upstream as possible in the header, but I'd really rather not do 2 (1 on each side).

So my question is WHICH SIDE? is there a 'hot' cylendar I should be looking out for? where have some of you guys placed the bung?

Thanks

Yeah, thats where i but the Wideband.

EGT is for Exhaust Gas Temperature right? I would assume you could place it around the same area. I know the closer it is to the block the better. But how much of a temp difference would a foot make?

Suprisingly a lot. Everybody I know puts them right in the top of the header, an inch or so from the block, usually in or before the first bend in the header. I don't know exact numbers for heat dissipation, but I know it's important to get as close as possible to get a accurate reading.

Anyway I was just curious, I know some cars will have one or two cylendars that run hotter.

tap the egt into the headers for more accurate readings.

EGT is a waste IMO on anything other than turbo applications.

i have a question, if u have hi flow cats, how far away does the wideband bung needs to be away from the o2 sensor. also, do u put it in front or back of the o2 sensor. this is for a supercharger application.

So a vehicle with nitrous shouldn't have a EGT for informing the driver of cylinder temps?

Thats how you blow a motor buddy.

This raises a good point. If the wide-band is only mounted on one side, than you can only monitor one bank of cylinders. What are the chances that one side could run lean and the other side will not? So should there not be a Wide-Band placed on each bank? Oh great...there goes another $400
