The amount of movement you have in the mounting flange before tightening. It's the difference in the bolt diameter (slightly smaller) vs. the hole in the flange (slightly bigger than bolt).

If you loosen then hold the cat in the desired position then re-torque it may provide the space you need....hopefully

so this worked for you? and it was the bolt on the mounting bracket?

Was referring to the flange that mounts the cat to the header. The bracket that spans both cats and bolts to the transmission housing gets torqued last and isn't going to help you with a clearance problem.

Look at the pic in the first post on this subject. The second picture (top row from left) shows the OEM and UR inlet end of the cat. What I'm refering to is where the studs go through the holes in the picture. You need to jiggle it to allow as much room vs. the floor panel on the drivers side as possible. The passenger side has a whole lot of room so clearance shouldn't be a problem.
