Unhappy jwt intake install gone wrong...

dumb @$$ me....

I tried using the oem stock 4 bolt/screw to connect to the jwt popcharger intake.. and it seems that the 4 screws were a lil too long... and I forced one of the screws to try and push it in 1/4 of an inch and one of the screw broke clean and flush...

I can't remove the screw thats broken in the jwt popcharger...

I bought a silicon sealing adheasive/gasket maker stuff and put a nice seal between the stock plastic pipe (with the sensor attached) and the jwt popcharger.

In addition, i got some some washers that fit with the other screws and tighten the other 3 screws down, this in turn corrected the spacing of the longer screws........

The main purpose of this fix is to correct the missing screw and making sure no dirty air comes in.. I'm only using 3 screws with washers plus a silicon gel that seals the two parts...

It looks pretty good, but I was wondering what everyone here thinks...

Note: I know that I'm an idiot... please don't flame

I wouldn't put silicone on it, what if it gets sucked into your engine?

no.. the silicone dries and becomes like gasket and handles up to temperatures 500 F

http://www.accessconnect.com/gasket_maker_.htm

None will get into the engine

If you broke a screw it really needs to come out and be replaced. Go to Sears and get an EZ Out/Broken Bolt Extractor to remove you broken screw.

Why not just drill out the broken screw and use the correct screws? Not flaming but why wouldnt you use the correct screws in the first place? I wouldnt rig anything on my car especially something like an intake....

LOL I thought I was the only one man. I screwed my JWT Pop-charger by doing the same darn thing lol. I put my factory box back on back on as I kept hearing a whistle so it seemed whenever I gave it some go(only 3 screws in though). I had to order some screws for it from nissan. If you go back to the stock air filter/box and need a bolt let me know I got em. I looked everywhere but couldn't find em till I called Nissan.

Me and a friend used a drill and everything else you can think of trying to get that broken screw out but to no avail it sits in my trunk.

HAHah! I did the same thing. I used washers on the other three and filed down the broken one so far so good for about a year already. The three screws still provide a good seal for me for now.

If you have a dremmel, you can cut a slit into the broken off bolt and use a flat head and unscrew it

The bolts we were talking about for $26 are the ones that are required for the upper and lower plenum...
