Do HFC's or testpipes take away from low end torque at all?

That might be situational, I gained a little tq and hp across the band with mine. More up top, but still gains down low.

Do the math, on 1 or 2 HP claimed difference in TP vs. HFC. I'm not sure there is even a difference but I'll give the TP guys that. IMO, still not worth the smell, rasp, CEL etc. Many claim these are not an issue which is fine too. However, I read about a lot who are not happy with TPs.

There is a difference, but it depends on the CATS being used. Anywhere from 1-4HP. From Ceramic to Metal CATS - 300-400 cell.

The sounds will be different - CATS are smoother and mellower, no CEL or smell issues. CEL issues may be likely of Metallic CATS and on ones that are less than 400 cell.

I've had both HFC's and TP's. I don't have exact dyno numbers, but I can tell you for sure there is a noticable diffrence betweent the two. The TP's are definately "faster"

Have you tried the marketplace section? Or using search? Or, forget searching...just *browse* through old threads.

If you dont want your ride to sound raspy go with resonated Fast Intentions I love mine. I have no rasp with the product they make.

This may be brand specific or magazine based bias but SS magazine did a test between the Magnaflow TP and HFC and only got a 1 hp difference. Granted the test was done on a civic Si but they seem to respond to I,H,E mods as well as ours as far as what I can tell from reading.

1% diff between TP's and HF cats? LMAO-it smore than that. And if considering or going FI its even more of a difference. Greddy TT guy on these baords gained something like 30whp with test-pipes over his previous HF cats set-up, search for it if you want-1% my a$$...

Don't buy the HP zhit either. You going to feel the difference of less than 1% gain in HP? yeah right......
More like...

If you want your Z to smell like bacon, get TPs

If you don't like bacon, get HFCs.

The difference in throttle response is more important than the hp. TP's FTW!

I wouldn't say that. Before adding a y-pipe, my resonated tp's would only rasp at wot between 3500-3800 rpm, hardly noticeable. But after, at wot, my freakin exhaust rasps from 3000 to almost redline.

I installed the Kinetix TP with resonators last week. I love 'em. But yes, the exhaust stinks now. Oh well. Sucks for the guy behind me, I guess. lol.
