You suck at life if you cant find that answer searching, its been discussed to death. TP's will make more power than any HF cat at 1/2 the cost.

Test pipes are direct flow through (less restriction/backpressure causes a gain in HP) and contain no catalytic converters. I know for FI systems the more open you make it the better... Therefore test pipes. BUT this is not technically legal and will in most cases of course fail you on any sniffer test.
As I see you are in Cali... I would suggest highflow cats as you will never pass emissions with test pipes. IMHO anyway.
Good luck with your decision.

Id recommend trying to mate the test-pipe diameter to your exhaust. For NA, 2.5" test-pipes mated to a 2.5" or even 3" exhaust will be fine...

The Helix and Ultimate Racing hfc's are the only ones that wont trigger a cel, and I think all test pipes show a cel....

On 03's nothing triggers a CEL. I dont know why certian HF cats would throw a CEL it shouldnt at all. If it does, a simply $20 02 sensor "fooler" will take care of that.

If you want your Z to sound like zhit, get TPs

If you want your Z to smell like zhit, get TPs

If you don't like zhit, get HFCs.

Don't buy the HP zhit either. You going to feel the difference of less than 1% gain in HP? yeah right......

Dude, I am not sure what you are talking about. My testpipes gave me a +25hp difference. They might be loud, but when combined with the turbos, they are no louder then my old nismo exhaust. (at least until my wastegates open)

true and not. yes they smell like crap but the sound wasnt too bad..at low rpms it sounds awesome, it probably is different on different setups but on mine it sounded nice, at high rpms yes it does sound kind of crappy but hey, when u accaully get to those rpm i assume the performance would matter over the sound.and not sure how much more the tp's give you over hfc but yes its half the price and it does give you more gains. i think its a good bang for the buck mod.

Your signature fits you well Resonated test-pipes flow well, make power and dont provide rasp. Besides music to one mans ears is crap to another so your opinion is pretty worthless....

Default Intimidator test pipes

Fast Intentions resonated test pipes are good for 10 RWH and 12 lbs. of torque. This was on a bone stock 2006 350Z. I have the dyno charts to prove it...Tony (Oh and by the way, NO RASP at all)

ok, do the resonated test pipes smell? sorry for the n00b question, but ive searched a lot on this topic, but never heard of them smelling. is it that sulfur(rotten egg) smell? i think my cats are bad on my Z cause i already have that smell.

so if you cant figure out what the hell im asking in all that.haha. do the resonated test pipes give off a foul smell like im sure the regular ones do? thanks

It just smells like gas. The rotten egg smell is from RX7s cause they're just tree killers.

No, resonated testpipes also have a resonator. Non-resonated are just a pipe.

There is a lot of work involved as well to make sure the testpipes are built to factory specs as to make sure they do not impose a bind on the system.

....hmm the link you provided states 9 RWH and 10 tq so I'm wondering which statement is correct? Regardless which figures are correct, my statement still stands that the diference vs. HFCs is less than 1% in terms of HP.

If I take a good dump before I go to the drag strip, I can accomplish the same results
