300z motor in Z33??
Pretty straight foreward. Just wondering if anyone has done this swap being that those motors are cheap and easy to make power. I know that this most likely hasnt been done just throwing it out there to start something up.

"...the Option Stream Z, a modified 700bhp 350Z.." The one that wrecked. http://www.jdmoption.com/index.asp?P...n=Custom&ID=32
The guy, Daijiro Inada, has built a new one: http://blog.gtroc.com/dino/2006/02/jun_option_stre.php The engine is a VG30.

Also note that the first time he built that Z I believe it had just been released (that year) so there was absolutely no aftermarket at the time so the next best thing would be a swap.

Is there any info on if this will bolt up to the Z exsisting tranny, if so seems like this would be a cheaper more reliable way to make power..? I didnt know that Option car had the Z32 motor in it...I drove that car in GT4 and it had so much lag hahahahaha

The Z32 motor sucks? Thats funny its highly regarded as one of the most stout factory engines ever built by nissan. Forged pistons, rods, iron block. I know of many people whom say the samething about the 350z motor. I totally disagree i have both cars and the 300zx has far more potential. I know of several very reliable 700 hp 300zxtt's. You might want to do a little research before you say that motor sucks. By the way not knocking the 350z but it will never be a 300zxtt just wasnt designed that way. The 300zx motor was engineered for supercar potential. The 350z was designed for the average person hence the price difference.

For you to say the VG30 sucks and that a SR20 is more reliable is funny as hell.

Actually, modding a VG30DETT isn't cheap. And the JDM motors have smaller turbos than the USDM VG's.
for all the trouble to swap in the VG, and then mod it to make good power, you could easily boost the VQ, have a more useable powerband, and maybe even slightly build a short block.

Thanks for sharing your personal opinion. Most of us in the real world prefer stout motors that run 10 second passes with stock components.

The option car used a VQ. How did it get around that it used a VG engine? All the Z32 guys can actually look and see it's not a VG.
I would build the VQ and boost it instead of swapping for a VG30 as Chimmike said. The VG is a heavy bastard, and the VQ gives greater discplacement.
