Nice link Bhasha; Although I still think its quite ridiculous that he would base his purchasing decision on the popcharger on what it sounds like...

Exhaust is one story as they vary wildly and can be easily heard from in the cabin... On the other hand, If you didn't listen for the Pop-Charger you wouldn't even notice much difference. Maybe at WOT, but you don't drive at WOT all day long.

Back on base however, the PopCharger makes the Z sound much more "mean" if you can handle the non-turbo 'whistle' it offers as well.

Yup, it's kind of hard to tell inside the cabin, and I don't even know if the video accurately depicts the sound. But as you said, it just sounds meaner and it has a slight whistle to it (most prevalent around 2500-3500 rpms).

To the OP: just buy the Pop Charger

Or buy the Nismo/Injen/K&N Intake and waste an extra $200 for the same performance... ?

Oh and another note: Unless you plan on stopping at the PopCharger in mods, you won't even hear the Popcharger after any other mods. I think what creates the sound is the stock setup + popcharger only.

I.E. - If you add as little as an intake plenum or exhaust, the popcharger sound is inaudible from in the cabin. Mine didn't even whistle anymore after a plenum install...

Hey nothingremains,

Get it man - buy it used if you don't wanna spend a note for it. When u drive let your windows down and hit it - it does sound different and the whistle was a little weird to me - Hell I thought something was wrong till I searched on this forum and found out it was the norm.

Got mine at courtesyparts.com as well.

The car sounds a lot meaner at WOT now; I love it! And honestly, I can't even hear the whistling sound that everyone is talking about. I'm bone stock with just a popcharger.

Wow dude, you are random... Where did anyone say anything about oil in this thread??

Anyway, like any filter (other than crappy paper filters of course) you need to oil the filter element to assist it in filtering the debris...
